Well I am grateful for the help I have received and funny enough had three calls from agencies today offering me good work for a good rate, I think cheekmonkey has a point about us turning a corner. Not only good rates but some of them are waiving this stupid two year licence rule which they always blame the insurance company for.
Anyway refused all of them, got an interview at Reed Bourdall tomorrow thanks to Jonny and Jim followed with a number for me to ring for bibbys etc, thanks lads. Early days yet but I reckon it does look like there is loads of jobs out there
I have been told on the grapevine that Peckover Transport in Low Moor Bradford are setting on, pay not two good though i think £7 ph for first 3 months then goes up to £8 ph with overtime at £12 ph.
I work for Sherborne also in Bradford they pay £438 for 38 hours, they are getting new truck in August so will ask if they are looking for a driver and let you know on here
Cheers mate and I do appreciate your help but I would not work for that. I would go and do HGV 2 for £8.50 lol if I needed a job that bad but it is the principle that if you bow down to them and work for that rate how are rates ever going to improve but I do thank you for letting me know

When the assessor ■■■■ said you’d failed you should of told him that it was actually him who had failed and you had been sent by Head Office undercover due to a number of complaints to check him out. Worth it just to watch the blood drain from his stupid face.

So how do Reed Boardall’s rates compare then?
Yes, " " indeed!
So Mr. Alder is here scoffing away at “only” £7/hr (rising to £8/hr) and £12/hr overtime “I would not work for that” at Peckover but apparently 15hrs all at £8.50/hr with Reed’s is somehow acceptable?
Don’t give up mate I was in same situation (ex Army ink still wet on class one), once you find a decent agency, and there are some out there, as advised by other posters, take on any jobs, vans etc and prove yourself reliable and versatile, after a while they will probably trust you enough to have a go on bigger vehicles. You will still occasionally get the rough jobs, but they will look after you.

Maths fail Mr. Alder?
Yeah I thought it was a better rate than that. Anyway I arranged the interview and went today got the job, start next Monday. I will try it out, bit worried about the distance, took me 50 minutes to drive there so could be expensive. See how it goes. I asked a driver who was showing me to the office “How do you like it here?” and he replied “I am leaving on thursday”
Well Jim gave me a contact and I spoke to him out of courtesy to tell him I will be starting that job and he after he got up off the floor laughing ( ) said Ok if it doesn’t work out you have my number give me a call for Bibbys nights

The most naive post I’ve seen on here for a while…
They look after no one but themselves mate. You’ll learn!

Don’t worry alder I hope you get on ok at the big RB if they don’t run you too ragged !
Which way you travelling Guiseley to Roecliffe ?
Jim
Live in Rawdon so three roads to get there A658 A1 A168 Bingo. Nice weather probably take the bike faster and cheaper on fuel
reed bordall are at the side of A1, why you going up A168 ?
Exit from A1M @ B’bridge … then onto A168 to 1st roundabout … take 1st exit … under A1M …RB IS on the left.
Simples … you HAVE to use A168 … Clifford Wilson NEVER did get planning for DIRECT access from the yard to A1M ( despite being on the local council )
Sorry … couldn’t resist … Clifford Wilson was a top bloke. For those not in the “know” … what is now RB -used to be Wilson’s Transport.
