I’ve just spent most of the afternoon looking through this forum and was wondering if anyone out there could tell me anything about Febrys of Chipping Sodbury as there name has been mentioned on some threads.
My grandfather, Curly Francis, drove bulk tankers for them for years & my father, Roger Francis drove tippers for them for some time. I can remember going on days out with my grandfather in his lorry. Very exicting for a young lad.
I used to have a picture of my grandfather being handed the keys to a brand new Leyland 8 wheel tanker but have lost it over various house moves.
I must of caught the lorry driving bug because I’ve been doing it myself for many years now. Some of the names on the Western transport thread ring a bell.
Any memories or pictures involving Febrys would be much appreciated.

They’ve been gone for years now. The yard is now an established housing estate that looks like it’s always been there. There’s a CD with about 100 R&W Febry photos on it. I was told by someone that it can be bought at some of the shows.
There’s only one Febry family running their own lorries nowadays, that’s Bruce & his Son Matthew Febry. R & W Febry were their Uncles & Great Uncles.
HI CHAPS I HAVE GOT SOME PHOTOS OF R & W FEBRY INCLUDING AERIAL PHOTO OF THE YARD THERE WAS A TYRE ADVERT IN COMMERCAL MOTOR WHICH SAID THEY OPERRATED 120 LORRIES WILL TRY AND FIND IT AND GET PUT ON
One or two photos here of Febrys transport which I have purchased from Bob Hobbs at transportphotos.com/road/photo The photos were taken by Adrian Cypher and are copyright to Bob Hobbs who has given me written permission to post them.
I will post some more for you later but in the meantime if you go onto transportphotos.com/road/photo and type Febrys in the search box you can check out Bobs photos first hand.
I used to back load off Febreys in the 60s, usually Rice Bran fro Avonmouth Docks up to Nitrovits Mills in the north east, it used to be full of Weavels, but they used die when exposed to the cold, the mills used to unload it & leave it outside in case they got into the mill.sorry to hear they no longer operate,Regards Larry
