A lot of years ago, before ECUs, I had a DAF done, turned it up from 360 t0 400, was OK, but not outstanding. They have been about for a lot of years so should be ok.
from what i have heard from various people, they seem to specialise in manual pumped engines rather than ECU engines
I’ve heard good things about them.
I normally hear the name mentioned in the same sentence as Special Truck, Beers Scania,Wally Stop, Herald of Freeloaders and Middle East
Feather Diesels have been in business for many many years.
And what open stretch of road, empty of traffic are you going to be using to take full advantage of what I assume will be an increase in power.Oh!I forgot upping the horsepower from 450 to 680 normally means you end up massively improving the mpg making it all worth while, cynical I know but heard it all before.Feather are experts and will sort out a problem if one exists and ofcourse fiddling with an engine the manufacturers usually don’t like it.

I used to take my wagons to ■■■■■■■ at Eaglescliffe. All they used to do was set the engine… Exactly! When an engine comes from the factory it is set up to tolerances, they used to use a lot finer tolerances, and everytime, I drove a more powerful more economical wagon out of there than the one I drove in.
Chucking more fuel at something, I admit, will probably reduce Engine life, but proper resetting of an engine, by a proper Engineer, can IMO. Extend engine life and improve power and economy.
My heroes are those that can tune an Engine by ear, not that I could name one now.
My old man used to deal with Feathers 40 years ago, good firm but not interested in ECU remapping themselves, they did the dynotest on my 550 a couple of years ago but declined to offer (or even recommend) any remedy, I ended up getting Paramount from Slough to come out and do it and was perfectly happy with them

bit strong malc, i know there’s mountains of BS spoken about that event, but a lad who lived near me got out alive but topped himself 3 years later as he couldn’t cope with the guilt
feathers at one time wouldn’t even consider doing a re chip as jj said they wouldn’t recommend it at all, but even feathers are out there to take your money as they have jumped on the band wagon and started doing re~chips, if feathers can do it i wouldn’t take it to its max % go oround 12~15% max very max, if you want to see what so called chipping can do give lee hawke a shout it cost him a lot of money to put right at the end of the day, ie 3 sets of heads, header tank etc, etc, etc, but these who did lee"s are from deeside!!! and they just whopped the power up to stupid figures around 610bhp from a 480 this was dyno"d at feathers to see what the power was aswell after the problems started!!, way,way to much in the end, lee had the chip took out and put back to std settings and so far touch wood he ain’t had any probs since “i shouldn’t have said that” if you have a few klicks on the engine i wouldn’t recommend it to be honest, you will pay in the long run, best thing is to sell it and buy something with more power!!!

all the scrap dealers want hawkies lemon, well they did when scrap prices were good,
i used to drive a 480 xf that hadnt been chipped and it went through 2 sets of heads and gaskets in 4 months, boss traded it in for a 430 cf, had it 2 years now and only replaced the head gasket the week before i went in hospital
mine has a jolly top set every year and she’s sweet at 44t running ex Immy at 8.7 average, it’d be nice to whistle up Brighouse at 60 but…hot pistons hurt when they come back out of orbit!!!
