Fuzrat:
Be interesting to see what next week brings, normally we are flooded with hauliers from beginning of Nov pulling our trailers and agency everywhere. Rest day working and second runs all over the shop. This year, holidays being made available, 3 or 4 agency few days a week to keep them sweet, not a haulier in sight and OT fallen off the cliff. Had 10 spares the other day on the plan, absolutely unheard of in December.
Suits me though, potter around for my 1 run, hour or so kip before I go home, 9hrs is more than enough these days. Back of house on the Ambient side is stacked, seems the only thing up is frozen.
Yeah I’m intrigued too, as we’re specifically frozen and nothing else. No agency, no subbies at all but still overtime if wanted (not by me), also no difference in shifts really. A bit longer if anything as the wait tines at DCs for a trailer turnaround is that bit longer - getting fresh in and out again is higher priority than tipping a decker full of frozen to sit in a freezer etc.
But store wise our official “peak period” has been and gone. Most back freezers in stores are rammed and sometimes we bring them back as there’s no room to put the latest delivery away. You know, app stuff a bit of communication could resolve lol
Mate, Supermarkets are the kings for wasting money and not talking to anyone, even between goods in and out in the same depot
Take our overspill rule, 5 or more and it has to go that day. Sometimes you will do 180 mile round trip for half a dozen not even full pallets, can be 5 shippers
Thats the only thing adding time for us, early drivers being held up at store and not getting back with keys so sitting around for an hour or so at the start for a unit.
Other day I did one of our closer stores, only an hour down the road. Took a 9hr shift to do, sat me outside for 5hrs until they made some room and could drag stock straight out to the shop floor. Hey ho, paid by the hour as we say
Had a number trailers coming in on Thurs night with 6 dollies or 4 pallets and such like. Had a decker come in with 5 pallets and 3 dollies.
Makes you laugh at the wasted space etc. Although by all accounts the customer is charged for a full trailer so hey ho.
Often collect a part load and back to the yard and then go back out and collect another part load from fairly near by. But again customers pay for a full trailer so we can’t combine the loads.

‘‘Robroy’s Satutday night rant’’ eh doze? ok…here.s a Sat morning ‘‘rant’’ for ya mate.
For somebody who tells us he ‘doesn’t really need to work’ and ‘only works for pocket money’ he seems to be ramming in the hours…
This must be the only job where guys actually BOAST about being ran ragged and working 70 + hours…and who are totally oblivious to how stupid that looks.
On other threads he constantly tells us all about his work/stress related illnesses the job has instilled on him,he’ll have for rest of his life…just me or what.?
I’m similar age and I’m just fine thanks mate.
And dozy’s Cherry on top…it’s took him 40 years and after numerous people on here telling him in the past, to realise parking in lay bys with a pot noodle is a mugs game…like it’s some sort of revelation. …you couldn’t make it up.
Oh my God I’m so jealous :roll Aye right…but in the meantime I’ll.stick to my 45 to 50, and do my (dozy’s imaginary ) ‘‘Sat night rant’’ .
Finish today btw for over 2 weeks so no rant this Saturday doze .
Your missing the point rob , apparently there’s no agency work , I’m just dispelling that myth ,( though it’s all imaginary , photoshopped, lies apparently )
Anyway have a good Xmas , I’ve done like you grabbed a coffee as the services , though I’ve paid for mine !!!
Away doze man, get yer photography technique sorted mate ffs.I’m craning my Gregory here.
Paying for coffee?? No way Pedro.
Haven’t paid for a coffee for 3 years mate, ‘‘Rob’s great coffee scam is alive and well’’ so if ever we meet I’ll get ya one.
Merry Christmas to you too,…especially with all the extra ‘‘pocket money’’ you made.
dozy:
No let up in my agency work , I’m doing 6 days this week tramping( not done a o/t shift for apx 15 yrs & swore I never would again / same as tramping , on my way to a c& carry in Glasgow for 14.00 Friday , hospital appointments & jury service have put pay to my Xmas / jan / feb plans , and i m loosing 3 k + on a Xmas week hol & 2 weeks jury service + hospital appointments so I’m going for it , had enough now to be honest , hope snow stays away & the promise of a short sat materialises or I could be doing a last driver out there on a sat rob roy thread rant
There’s work out there , loads , I’ve even been offered Boxing Day , New Year’s Day , but that is a step to far for me , though the rates on offer are eye watering .
1 am and I should be asleep but [zb] I can’t get used to this bloody rocking / noise in this lay-by , and never been so cold in my life , bloody night heater blows bloody cold
U are so full of [zb] it’s untrue[/quote
I make that 80 hrs 3o , 5 nights out , what did you say full of ■■■■ ha ha
5 drops round brum today then head for Bathurst for tomorrow , loads of lorries , ques at 3 of the drops , lots of scruffy / non uniform wearing drivers , obviously agency , Thread title needs changing as it’s obviously untrue , unless you believe those sat on there fat asses on there setee , over those of us who are out there
Should be changed to , there’s agency work out there if your prepared to get off your fat asses
Anyway can’t stop not enough hours in a day presently

Mrs packed me up for my nights in lay-by , after 40 yrs of marriage you’d think she could do a bit better than some bloody ham & beef paste
My Mrs is pure class mate, got the stunning looks,.great cook and she looks after me in every way you can think.
At start of my working week, she makes me beef or chicken chilli and salad tortilla wraps,.all nicely wrapped up in tin foil to keep fresh.
Sometimes she does me a variety of different sandwiches made with local bakers home made crusty bread.
Rest of week it’s home made meals to warm up that she has made, or as you know I do meals out.
No offence doze, but if my wife gave me that,.I’d be kicking her arse.
(Metaphorically speaking btw, not advocating wife beating )
Is she on the steak dinners and Lambrusco while your away eating that crap?
He must be eating a lot of fish…well known brain food apparentlly.
Anybody else noticed how his English vocabulary and written grammar has improved of late?
Your '‘wind up mask’ is slipping doze, you are that intent on telling us how much money you are making and how you are running yourself ragged, that you are forgetting to come across in ‘‘dozy persona mode’’.
Early start as only got to lymm last night , starving so instead of tea & a porridge had a breakfast ( mrs will do her nut when she checks blood / sugars at w/ end )
Still lorries pouring up/ down m6 , looks like a normal week
Nb if there’s any night shift drivers on here turn your ■■■■■■■ radios down when you come in services at night , ■■■■■■■ idiots
Looks like a hint from the mrs , 1 tablet fri , other one with tea at home , bit embarrassing at 61 having to be told how many / which days you have to take tablets , though she knows when I get tired I forget
Not being funny here doze, but with all the illnesses you have develooed over the years because of the effects of how you have done the job, all the medication you are on,…
Is there not a message there somewhere glaring you in the face?
Time to call it a day if it was me mate…, and especially as you keep telling us you don’t NEED to do the job anymore ,.as it’s only for pocket money.
No pockets in a shroud mate.
Take yer Uncle Uncle Rob’s good advice mate…it’s free.

It was originally for a week rob , just covering for a lad who has gone off sick , though apparently now he won’t be back until the new year ( gets full sick pay apparently ) , I’m doing this week until fri then off next week , off last week in jan , 1st feb & have various hospital / clinic / docs appointments through jan , I’ll be packing up in March as can’t see anyway I’ll pass medical
As for the hours rob , I’m agency , you get the ■■■■ , ■■■■ lorry , job , hours , start times etc , it’s always been that way as long as I can remember , those who
Don’t conform to that , want set hours , pic of the fleet , days etc etc are now sat on the setee at home , I don’t know why they don’t just go full time as they want what full time drivers get , so may as well
I’ve proved my point ,I said there’s work out there on agency if you want it ( are prepared to do the work ) , crap , they said there’s not , they said there’s not , I’m talking ■■■■■■■ ■■■■ , when the truth is there sat on the setee as they want to cherry pick there work , do what suits them , so the companies have ■■■■■■ them off , Now they want us to feel sorry for them , I don’t , and I’d bet employed drivers are having good old laugh over them drowning in self pity
Anyway rob enjoy your Xmas / new year , though I’d like to know how a employed driver gets 2 weeks off at Xmas as I couldn’t get anything bar Xmas day / rota days off when I was employed !!
