We are thinking of installing fax machines into our units. Can you guys tell me how they work, what you need (we have invertors already fitted) and which models of small machines you suggest.
Many thanks.

one question… why fax machines?
why not a laptop with internet oer even bluberry phones for them all, you can email backwards and forwards and will be more effective (better signal) than what you would need for a fax to be sent/received.
if you speak to the major players in telecoms they have some good deals going
just a thought
Saelens (SITRA) used to have fax machines and printers in the cabs. To be fair, there are much simpler systems using telematics. Have a look at Transics or Punch Telematix
a fax machine in the truck is a beauty idea especally for the european drivers, it should take the problem of dodgy address spellings.
Reason for fax machines is for sending Movement Orders through to the guys for the Abnormal Loads we transport. They have to ensure they carry a copy but if they are away and pick up a return trip, pain in getting a copy to them.
The new trucks on order have telematics already in them so I will speak to the dealer and see what he suggests.
I know there are trucks out there with fax machines and just
wondered how they worked and how people found them.
Meantime will update you when I speak to the dealer.
Thank you,
a friend of mine used to have a laptop with mobile broadband internet and a printer for any papework he needed whilst he was away, that would do just the same as a fax machine, plus a lot more too

Thats what I use, and run the printer off one of these

with a cheapo £30 printer.
I can do movement orders from the cab, as well as print off the hard copy.
as said above, much easier to email a copy of the movement order then have a printer in the cab to print it off
hi,been useing mobile fax for 15 years now.used to use a paper fax when on analouge that was a RICO FAX machine you can still get these but on digital ,tap in on goolgle ,nearest supplier was in wrexham. now im useing anokia 9500 it doesnt print but shows the a4 fax on the screen. ive still got my old rico paper fax but it useles because its the old analogue.
Looking for a fax machine that allows voice and fax on the same call? I’m looking for a fax machine that will allow you to telephone a contact, speak to them and then send or receive a fax to or from them. When the fax is completed you can resume your voice call. This is like your voice call going on hold while the fax is sending or receiving. When the fax is done you are off hold.
In my last job as a european van driver we used blackberry’s connected to a small printer via bluetooth to print CMRs off.
something a bit like this ebay.co.uk/itm/HP-DeskJet-45 … 3cba28b5b5
