Hi all i know this is a silly question but never had a fax machine before i ordered one today, but have never set one up.How do i get the fax number so i can recieve a fax,i take it that it does’nt use my exsisting telephone number. Thanks all
It will use your existing number. If you want a different number you will need to order a separate line to be installed to your house.
When the phone/fax recieves a call it should not go to FAX unless it hears the tone of another FAX machine. think I said that right…
do people still use fax machines now ■■?
I thought they went out of fashion along with slate and chalk

Rog, you said it right but it’s " i before e except after c ". Usually… receive.

Yup, my bank won’t accept an email instruction 'cos you can’t physically sign it.
Signed faxes sometimes required to release loads, send copy of delivery notes, manifests etc.
Fax machines just use the existing number that its plugged into, you can set it to either only receive faxes or telephone and fax, if the machine is set to Telephone and fax you can set the number of rings before the fax kicks in, for example 4 rings, if the phone is not answered within 4 rings the fax machine answers, if it does not hear a fax tone it auto switches back to phone and starts ringing again.
The only problem is that when a customer calls they tend to hang up as soon as they hear the fax tone

What I do is print the form, sign it, copy it back to the computer as a jpg, and e-mail it as an attachment.
I think if you are doing a lot then you need a dedicated phone number. I bought an all-in-one printer/copier/scanner/fax and soon gave up on the fax.
There are shops etc that will send faxes too.
Good god what decade are we in, fax?!
