None of which solves the problem of 10 kgs of battery weight per kwh. That’s more than 100 kgs of battery weight per gallon of diesel equivalent.
Let alone electricity price + taxes.
Also why would we want to put our energy security into the hands of a bunch of Communist Nazis regarding battery manufacture.

Ah! Those Communist Nazis again.
At least they aren’t as bad as the Papist Protestants who all read the Quoran in their Synagogues.
And remember to look out for those darned Dictatorial Democrats: they can be slippery too.

Four and a half hours driving, followed by 40 mins to recharge.

So long ss you “take your break on the pump”, it seems quite feasible.
.The technology is getting there.

“Communist Nazis”? I think that is something of an oxymoron! Amusing.

The government is being urged to set a date for HGV diesel ban, After 2025 truck manufacturers will come under stricter emission standards and will be fined €millions like the car manufacturers have been recently if they overstep the new limits :open_mouth: . commercialfleet.org/news/tr … diesel-ban

The Chinese BEV manufacturer NIO have a swappable battery service for their BEV’s which is fully automated & takes less than ten minutes. I’m sure the bright people can do the same for bigger heavier Lorry battery traction pack.

The link opens but nothings coming up, presumably have to be a registered user.

Whenever you see someone, the govt in this case, being ‘‘urged’’ to do something for ‘reasons’ one should always wonder who why and which vested interests are doing the urging and how much money is involved in the pursuit of change to suit them.

Absolutely frightening that people really do believe that regarding this coup. :open_mouth:

The Chinese connection in all this is no secret.

How much for every recharged battery swap including electricity at 16p per kwh + road fuel duty and 20% VAT and what’s the weight of a truck battery pack ?.

This ^.

Also 4.5 hours and 40 mins recharge. Yeah maybe in absolutely perfect controlled test environment conditions. What about in the real world when it’s -5C outside, the driver has had the night heater running all night and now has the main heater blower running all day to keep warm, lights on, wipers on, radio on, satnav and phone plugged in? Range reduced by half and that’s probably being generous.

All this EV stuff is a load of ■■■■■■■■.

Couldn’t agree more. The pseudo need for electric vehicles is simply a way to extract money from the plebs.

And, as soon as EVs are prevalent, the tax on them will rocket. They will suddenly become “less environmentally friendly than we thought”, as was the fate of diesels.

But, just like Covid, drip feed it enough and the sheep will fall for it without question.

The dystopian society is insidiously creeping towards us. The sad thing is even when it’s fully here, the hard of thinking will not see it.

The heater also being paid for at the same 16p per kwh + road fuel duty + 20% VAT as the drive motor.
As opposed to what would be waste heat from the engine coolant as part of the 12p per kwh including road fuel duty and 20% VAT cost of diesel. Also air con in the Summer all at the expense of range and the need to stop for battery changing/charging and productivety.

Not to mention expensive dangerous bollox, dependent on massive growth in nuclear power generation and corresponding increase in the risk of nuclear disaster at that.
