Farewell,old friend

yesterday my faithful old 65 plate CF Daf,along with the rest of the fleet of CF’s,parked up and being returned to Ford & Slater after less than 4 and a half years use :frowning:
a good truck IMO,ideal for us on day work, just a few minor issues with the occasional warning lights flashing up for no apparent reason.apart from that, very reliable, and nice to drive.oh well, soon be Monday and i can get to grips with my brand new Actros

Excellent post 10/10 A +++++ will read again and again. By far the best thing on TruckNet I’ve read in years.

Oh well if you last 4.5 years you’ll have no fillings a broken spine knumb ■■■, enjoy the Merc

I assume you mean “less than 5 random errors a day” being a DAF and not counting that constant emissions error?

Pity you can’t get get a 65 plate DAF with 13 plate headlights and gearbox. That would beat a lot of units including the Merc.

Hope your Merc isn’t the one with the tiny side cupboard suitable for 4 straps. Makes an Iveco look good!

The new DAF engines with a 2006 DAF gearbox, chassis, cab etc would do for me.

EDIT.
And I`d give up the latest engines to get that, too.

Actros…Another Crap Truck Rolls Outa Stuttgart. Good Luck.

I must admit I have been more than happy driving a cf 85 manual

well i survived the first day in my new motor  cab appears to rock n roll about a bit though, reminds me of my old Transconti…didn’t quite read my front number plate though when i braked
bloody high up as well, and took me a while to work out the radio settings.still,no camera’s on or in the cab  …yet.

‘Old 65 plate” where I work we still got 57’s…could only dream about driving something as new as a 65.

Give me a Transcon any day over a Craptros…give me any bloody thing over one. :unamused:
Don’t know how tall you are, but I’m 6 foot 1, and I can’t reach into those ridiculous bloody side cupboards, so unless you’re 6 6, take a step ladder with you.

You’re high up, because of the crap driving position, my seat is permanently pinned down, and it still felt too high until I got used to it…like you do with toothache,.and I have to sit virtually bolt upright, although I like to relax and slouch back whilst driving.
And the list of bad points go on.
Horrible, horrible trucks. :smiling_imp:
