We had a job like that one saturday morning taking stone to the back of old colliery houses near Wath on Dearne, they had to take the downpipes off the end of the buildings and then we reversed down without mirrors which is a little scary without anyone to watch you. Certainly wouldn’t want to be doing it daily!
Pete.
we dont go now costin to much for mirrors @new side rails

Not sure what this is but it has the look of a Foden…any idea’s
Looks like a Hydrocon to me. I think they had Albion running gear.
Found this one, I think it looks similar.

Sorry guys, obviously in the wrong topic then but I did think it looked like a Foden. I don’t think the owner would want me to say where it is. I took the photo back in 2007 so I don’t know if it’s still there. But thanks for the I.D. of it…Cheers

One of Sharples, seen on Brecon Beacons with driver Percy Hall RIP.
well boys what about them old fodens, i can saftely say foden gave me a bit more than erf which i am a fan of and have ran since 1978 starting with a b, series the edge foden gave was they could supply an oversize rad and i had that cause crossing the alps twice a week ment climing mountains inside tunnels to get to the top an once trucks had run before me there was no cool air to keep the truck cool, a number of trucks had blown up already doin the same so i wasnt havin any of that. also i didnt want seal for life front axle bearings, running a truck till the bearings seizes aint a good idea then have to pay god knows what for recovery it aint cheap across the channel. then they had to put plastic header and sump tanks on the radiator then there was the micky mouse gear linkage must of used parts of a sewing machine for that. then you couldnt get a roadranger gear box . it seams all the things that was right with the erf they change. the things that needed doing like the cab- exta livin space an storage and such must have bin an after thought.but all the british trucks were guilty. if i could have brought a new b series ide have that. with foden i had o/s rad 525 ■■■■■■■ an jake 18 sp roadranger h/d props double drive diff locks cross locks and in the dead of night minus 30 snowin crossin the alps loaded you get one shot and thats it. and foden well they delivered for me cause i allways wanted british trucks i allways loved our country i think i you want to take from the pot you got to put some in and i held on as long as i could… be safe god bless…
