Fan Clutch

getting a code up on my TGA (FFR0647-10) which the book says is “fan clutch” anyone any experience of what this entails, expensive job?

You’ll probably find the wires to your fan hub snapped, easy enough to replace, remove inter cooler pipes unbolt fan cowling and fan hub, unplug the wiring and the whole lot lifts out. You can run with the wires broken it just means the fan is locked in constantly but be sure to isolate any bare wires as occasionally they short and blow the FFR ECU.

Well that was very concise.

So just a broken wire then , strange thing is MAN just fitted me a new intercooler , i wonder if they disturbed something while they where doing it

The wire runs on a bearing in the centre of the fan hub and its often the bearing that seizes which damages the wire as it tries to turn the wiring with the fan.

Ok thanks mate, its getting looked at this afternoon, talk of frying the ecu spurred me into action

Ah well turned out a cheap fix for a change, the pins on the switch where corroded and causing the fault to come on, £60 for one hour of MAN,s time to diagnose and then clean them up and i.m good to go
