As most know, Very were selling satnav rather cheap. They honoured most sales and were rightly congratulated for that.
Sadly my satnav decided it wasn’t for this world and was completely dead. I sent it to back to Very and they refunded me straight away…
However… as the price of the satnav is now at £419 again, I decided to chance my arm and I contacted them expressing how sad I was that my satnav was dead and I couldn’t afford to replace it as they have increased the price considerably.
Without question, they told me to order another one at full price and they will refund the difference to make cost £149 again.
As of this moment, they haven’t refunded the difference, and it remains to be seen if they will, but I have an email transcript of the the conversation with their CS person promising it, so hopefully all will be well. The order is still processing, so I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and give them a few days.
Fair play for honouring the price in the first place, but if you wanted a replacement for a faulty item then that’s your legal right, you should have said straight away.
Spoke to them again today. I’ve received the replacement satnav, so that’s step 1.
However the refund of the difference is yet to emerge. I was promised it will be sorted by tomorrow, so we’ll see.
Unless I read your post wrong, you bought a sat nav for 149 quid, you found it faulty, sent it back and they refunded you.
I would have thought that with it being under warranty they should have replaced the sat nav like for like, irrespective of the offer being over, or if the offer was a mistake on their part.

I thought the law was refund OR replacement.
It probably is mate, I don’t really know, but I would have thought they would have give him the option, being that the only reason he bought it in the first place was the offer on price.

Your rights under the terms of the Warranty depend entirely on the terms of said warranty.
Your rights under Consumer Protection legislation are:
Up to 30 days, you can reject the goods as faulty/not of satisfactory quality/not as described etc and get a full refund of the price you paid;
Outside the 30 day period, but up to 6 months, you must give the supplier one go at fixing the fault or replacing the item (your choice). If the repair is unsuccessful (or the replacement item is also faulty) you are entitled to a full refund of whatever you paid.
If you have already accepted a refund, you do not have any right to require the supplier to sell you another one at the same price.
It’s quite simple. On the returns form, there is no option for refund or replacement. If there was, I would have selected replacement. It only asks what the reason for return is.
I informed them that I wanted a replacement and they said they would refund the difference if I rebought the satnav at it’s now full price as they couldn’t replace the item. I have this in work riding from two separate customer service reps.
As of this moment, the refund isn’t forthcoming. I was promised it would be sorted by Friday at the latest. I have emailed a formal complaint and will give them until Monday afternoon to respond. If they don’t, then I will take other measures such as phone my CC company to sanction a chargeback.
I can 100% assure I will get the money back one way or another!
