Hi I’m new to the forums. I failed my cat c yesterday on turning right with a filter light on. As I was making the turn the filter light went off and he failed me on observation and vehicle position but I was already across the oncoming lanes when light went off.feeling abit deflated as the rest of the drive was perfect.
I was failed because I mounted a curb on my C-E test, I was heading for a clean sheet too

Are you saying that you were already turning when it went off or it went off and then you turned ?
I was already turning when it went off
Don’t let it get you down mate. Chin up, wallet out and keep going. Good luck.
Cant pass sensible comment without actually being there. But, based on the info given, seems odd.

Yea I thought same thing because I was already turning it would of been more dangerous to stop guess it all depends on the examiner.
If already over the traffic light stop line then it becomes a give way situation and if you were already in a position which would impede others at that point then you would be expected to get out of the way by completing your turn
As others needing the space you were already in were stopped at their respective red light then they would be able to see and adjust for you to do so when their light went green
I wish there were dash cams as standard on test

It’s ok to have a dash cam on test - - but it cant be used to argue a result. Something else that’s a bid odd!

I’ve wondered a few times if they were allowed in test Pete…
TBH I thought I had seen a few ‘official looking’ YouTube instructional videos on various subjects where it is mentioned that a test cannot be filmed.
I take it they changed that at some point?
And frankly I’m surprised as surely it can only lead to conflicts (even though they have covered their proverbial by the non-contention rule you mention).
I also thought about the value of using a Cam as an aid during training week.
Apart from needing one with a large enough memory before it started overwriting itself, I thought it might be a bit labour-intensive trawling through the footage.
But maybe if it was only used to highlight certain situations (which you could note down when they happened time-wise) then it might be useful.
Have you ever considered using them in some shape or other?
If only for your own insurance purposes nowadays, surely it would be worth it?
Jon
Under consideration.
