As the title says really i failed this morning for progression… few minors unfortunately turned into a serious. Im absolutely gutted but am not about to dwell on it. Gonna get straight back amongst it and get a re test done…only thing thats gonna hurt me most is shelling out more money as im one tight … anyway any questions from fellow newbies who might want to know owt about going for your test. Feel free to ask
what were the minors for BigRob?
Sounds like he wasn’t making sufficient progress c-yeti. On one of my failed tests, I failed for exactly the same reason. A couple of February’s past, my test was around Marple (Stockport area for anyone who doesn’t know), and it was a frosty morning. Problem was the sun was coming out and the frozen leafs all over the road were starting to mulch. Also the sun was low, and I felt that the combination of these factors on 40 limit roads (loaded with 5t), meant that 35 mph, especially coming down the hilly stretches, was fast enough, and would demonstrate to the examiner that I was aware of going from 30’s into 40’s.
Examiner didn’t see it that way. Totting up of minors turned into a serious. Bit harsh IMO.
I found that passing the C test was the tricky one - by comparison the C+E was a breeze but by then I had had 3 months of driving an 18t rigid under my belt. Good luck next time…
+1 Zee. Breezed through CE first time.
Both first time, professional here beaver failed because crawling through national speed limits at 10mph is not acceptable
yeh the minors were for progression amongst other but that was what failed me… the area where i got them were massive hills and tbh i thought i was showing that i wasnt allowing the vehicle to get away from me… i was going around 44mph in a 50 but downhill for a good 2 mile stretch. obviously me thinking i was showing control of the vehicle was the wrong apporach lol.
You’re supposed to show that you can rag the Arse off of it and remain fully committed to hurling around corners lol who cares if the load has shifted, the curtains will keep it in, and if not, just blame the warehouse haha
Progression is a funny one. I got a mirror (I think, can’t remember) for doing the speed limit when I should of been doing less. The road had of traffic on it so I guess slowing it down would of been the safer option. Freaked me out at the time because the examiner started to learn over looking at the speedo leaving me to panic if I was doing something wrong.
yes he kept looking at the speedo too when i was coming down that hill… and in my head i was thinking hes looking whether im going to go over 50 here… so thinking that i kept breaking down to show that i wouldnt go over 50. but in hindsight i think he was trying to give me a prompt to speed up.
Perhaps one of the instructors on here can clarify, but on my tests I told the instructor why I was doing what I was doing. For example I didn’t do the speed limit because I could see the cars ahead bunching up and I didn’t want to be left slamming on the brakes.
There are a few national limit single carriageway sections on a few test routes I learned and was told I’d be penalised for use of speed if I was anywhere near the 50mph and was best to stick to 30. I think it’s sometimes a good idea to say why you’re doing something if it would be deemed to be out of the ordinary, but I can’t see it changing the examiners mind if they don’t agree, as after all they should be paying enough attention to know what is going on around you
Sorry to hear you did a beaver Rob! But glad you’re taking it on the chin rather than using lame excuses about the road being icy, slippery with leaves, the sun was in my eyes, my mascara was running, etc…
Better luck next time mate in not doing a beaver!

I heard he built a dam at the test centre gate!
Due to his master piece the examiner passed him instantly, he didn’t even have to go out on the road!
haha yeh gotta take it on the chin no point dwelling on it just gotta give it another shot trying to get straight back in on the 9th november
Yep, but this time you know exactly what to expect…
So it’s not a waste, just extra practice!
Some people need more practice to pass their class 2 than others…

haha i just have visions of paying this £355 for resit and ballsing the reverse up
I doubt it pal, as I wouldn’t have thought you will be as nervous the second time around…
Obviously I wouldn’t know, as I didn’t do a beaver!
So you will have to ask him about taking it a second time, and a third time, and a fourth time…
SLAP!!!
Is there not a VAN net UK anywhere for you to join Beezle?
