Failed C test x2 :(

Hi everyone its been a while since I posted on here.

I done my training with Dta Academy in Leicester and it was a great experience, Loved it despite I was battered with a cold during that week. The crew there and my instructor were really friendly and helpful and got me my CPC Module 4 on Oct 31st and taught me what I needed to know. Great stuff!!! 3 Tests down 1 to go… Bloody Big one to go!!!

I done my test on the 1st Nov at Cannock … Failed it 8 Marks . 3 Serious 5 Minors. Cocked up on the reverse exercise and hit the cone with a pole in it. Didn’t keep to the left enough and couldn’t get enough turn on without going over the line, so I ended up hitting the first cone you pull up to.

During the drive , I got a second for catching a curb when turning left , Nearside rear wheel clipped it and the third one was coming out of the test Centre Industrial estate , I dropped it into second at a junction as I was coming to a stop but knocked it into reverse and jolted the truck n slightly rolled backwards. It takes the mickey as the day before the test I was doing perfect and did none of those things so I put this one down to nerves.

I did an hour at practising my reverse to hone in last week and had nailed it perfectly x3 in a row. Sorted! Was really cool of Dta academy as it only cost me the price of the assessment drive.

18th Nov ( Yesterday ). Second Test… The truck’s batteries had ran dry and wouldn’t start up so waited till the guys sorted it and got to the test centre just in time.

Test started: Failed again!!! 4 Marks 3 Serious , 1 Minor . I got into the bay this time but was close to the middle cone on my side that had the pole in it that made up part of the bay. Tried to do a shunt forward to straighten up and it just tapped the side of the trucks body with the tail swing. ■■■■! Failed again… I still went for the drive despite felt like crying inside but kept it together. I got another mark for going over a island/Flat roundabout on my side of it and shook the bodywork, Steering mark, Didn’t notice that funnily enough at the time…

The last one: My btard Nemesis of a double decker bus! (Bad history with buses) I was behind him, Went into a 4 way cross junction going straight over, he stopped just after it stopping me, my rear end in the junction. There was a pedestrian crossing behind him and in front of me which I didn’t block and people crossed it. I was waiting for it to go green as I thought it was a Ped crossing light. Examiner told me after a min or two to go and said I was looking at the secondary junction light and was blocking traffic… ■■■■.
Got a traffic light mark.

Went back, the examiner told me about my errors then got driven back to the office… The guys told me I don’t need any more training as I am there and don’t want to take any more money off me which is good to know. Its left up to me now to decide where to go from here out. I don’t really know what to do now, Feel right knocked for six! :frowning:

I didn’t feel nervous on that last test I was cool and I had more training for that reverse exercise and still didn’t nail it… Practise wise for the reverse I felt that Cannock test centre is really small and tight in comparison and the funny angle entrance to the reverse area doesn’t help either.

Any thoughts or advise?

Ah -makes sense now

I know DATA very well and from what you said they have fully trained you so it seems its just the case of ‘keeping it together’ for the test

My guess is that you are putting too much pressure on yourself come test time which in turn causes stress and then that stress causes part of your brain to switch off - only you can change that - try thinking of the test as a bit of fun - easy to say for someone who thinks like me but not everyone is a weirdo

I feel your pain , I failed my second test last week.

My first test i had 12 minors and 1 serious , Serious being i went 40mph in a 30mph zone.

Second test i got 1 minor and 1 serious , Serious being i signaled to late going into a roundabout i actually thought i had passed and that would of been a minor mark so was shocked to find i had failed!. Got a re-test next week and i’m feeling more nervous than ever.

We will pass it just takes time i suppose…
