Failed my c+e last Friday , retest this Thursday so hopefully will do better , no excuses ,failed on undue hesitation and school boy errors , not doing the two tugs forward after reconnecting the trailer ,also didn’t shake kingpin handle bad errors as this exercise of doing the trailer bit was my strongest point all week , may have worried about reverse manoeuvre to much as this was my weakest point , but in truth blew it , wasn’t good enough , training was top notch as the same company and same instructor got me my class 2 back in August , any thoughts peeps .

I failed coz I was doing 30mph past a school and missed the 20mph sign, I was gutted, near enough perfect score otherwise… 
Wow, I never knew I was a terrible driver because I passed my class 1 1st time with very few minors…
You’re wasting time & money nowadays taking your hgv but hey, it’s your money & your problem, good luck…

The week before my test, I’d been doing the reverse right first time, every time. Come the morning of the test, I bottled it; nerves got the better of me and I took several shunts - FAIL. The rest of the test was perfect (because I’d relaxed)! A week later, sailed through.

What do you mean “shake the handle”? Like palm it in? Or try and pull it after you’ve put the dog clip in?

Shake the handle from side to side , making sure the dog clip is secure visually also cheers m8.

I failed class one first time as well, I stopped in that stupid reversing bit ok & then reversed another few inches as I thought I needed to & he failed me for it. Seems pretty stupid to me but hey ho they gotta tick a box I suppose.
I think it’s good they’ve got to drop & re couple nowadays, I also think you shouldn’t be able to pass in a wagon & drag.

Ok, just to rub it in, I passed first time! Although I thought I ■■■■■■ up half way round and was surprised when he said I passed!

Sounds like that was good grounds for a appeal.
Don’t see where you went wrong there at all. Its not like the wheels have to keep moving during the reverse and you’re allowed to get out the cab and check, then reverse back a notch if you think you need to plus you can pull forward and reverse back again with in the parameters if you make a mess the 1st time, iirc once.
