Failed c+e toda

Really gutted failed my c+ e today , I drove really well but 5 minutes from the test centre I blocked a tipper on the roundabout and got a major for it , up to that point the examiner said I only had 6 minors but he had to fail me . The worse part is I can’t get another test till next wed without a two hour lesson beforehand which isn’t ideal coz I reckon I’ll fail again , a real dilemma

What do you mean…“I will fail again”■■?

Im really disappointed for you mate. But banish that pussyism this instant. You passed ‘C’, so there is no reason why you cant pass it.

Its easy to forget how long you are in a class 1,but next time you are on test, remind yourself that you have passed before and you will pass again. You could even write “50 feet long” or something on the back of your hand to remind you, nothing to say you cant!

Good luck next time mate.

What I meant was not being in a truck for a week and jumping straight into another test without a bit of practice beforehand

I failed my test last weds mate, got back in cab today and ok yes I failed it again… but thanks to a ■■■■ in a megane sport who wasn’t in sight when I entered the roundabout that was the only reason for failing… so don’t fret about having a week away from the truck.

I failed 1st time on exactly the same thing but was raring to go next time as took positive that only 1 thing messed it up,I had to wait about a week also but once got back behind wheel it all come flooding back, good luck for next week

Don’t wanna be rude to you guys

If your being so negative about failing again even before you’ve taken another test… then save yourself the money, hell you’ve already wasted so much on class 1 training … just leave to the big boys… your better just stick with the class 2 licence… failure is not an option…or is it your not one of the chosen few

I think it is normal to be negative when something does not go your way… I had exactly the same thoughts last Friday… As someone said above you passed your cat c so you can pass your c+e

Craig has borne out my point exactly straight back in no practice failed , it ain’t big or clever and a waste of money . When you’ve only done 5 days training it’s difficult to have a week off get straight back in and pass

All those I took for retest simply had a warm up of about 1 hour then in for test without any issues even if the retest was 4 weeks after the first

The only exceptions would be those who were not really test ready the first time - they would book more training days first

by not test ready I do not mean those who would have passed but for one silly error which they would not normally have done

I’ve been offered a test next wed at 8.30 next wed but without no warm up , not really ideal I think I might go for a couple of extra lessons then test if I can

Just ask for a pre drive, get settled, get back into the swing of it I have 4 weeks until my retest think how I feel!!

Hello Jeff, I think irained with you at road train last nov and both of us thought we were gonna fail then but we passed so sure you will be alright, I have driven a 26 ton class 2 in north london and I bet it would be easier in an artic, some if the corners were impossible in a rigid probably left a trail of destruction behind me, I was scared to look in the mirrors to see exactly how many cars I had scraped, but idiots will park on corners…
Good luck with the test you sure you wanna give up what your doing to drive a lorry??

I had same situation. Failed for not clearing Zigzag lines after pedestrian crossing. Doh. 6 minors and 1 Mega serious.

Next test was 4 weeks away. I thot omg i will forget how to drive by then. But, my instructor recognised the situation and arranged me 4h drive evening before test.
2h Warm up at 6:00 in the morning. test was at 8:00.

Ended up with clean sheet pass.

After all 3 weeks made no difference to my drive. Some how i felt more relaxed and that helpt .

Is that u lee , nice to see your getting on so well , not sure what I’m gonna do about work what I do is on the way out no doubt about that . I’ve just got another test booked for April 7 and I’ve booked two lessons as well to give myself the best chance possible , I’ve made my mind up I wont b giving up till I get my c+e no matter what 2 ,3 or however many tests. I ain’t no quitter

That’s the spirit mate… I’m in the same boat as you, not going to give up either.

Don’t beat yourself up, you’re unlikely to pass the first time because the Hgv training time given simply isn’t enough. Being able to pass after 3 days (half days) and then an hour before test on the 4th day is optimistic at best. That’s why the pass rate for HGV training is so low. Learn from what you did wrong and just take your time. You might get a minor for hesitation but you won’t get a serious for something you do wrong because you rushed.

8 am is the best slot imho, more traffic on the road = less driving around = less chance of a mistake.

When we need a retest we will offer further training/warm up at 50% discount. Some choose to do an hour or two, the majority simply take the test and pass.

There is sometimes a compromise. eg an early test date might be available but without the possibility of time beforehand. Even then we look at offering time during the previous day.

If you know what you’re doing, you wont forget it in a week or 2. But I also fully subscribe to the feelings that many might feel happier with time before the test.

Thankfully I don’t specialise in re-tests

But on the odd occasion someone has to come back I find that 1 hour is ample of time to prepare for the test in hand.

I failed my artic test and couldn’t get another for 6 weeks as the examiners went on strike. Passed with 4 minors.

Took my C 2 months after lessons with 2 tests cancelled due to bad weather. Passed with 5 minors.

You’ll be fine :grimacing:
