F89 for sale in Holland

Have a look at the condition of the cab on this early F89 6x4 rigid for sale in Holland, the interior’s a bit rough & it’s got an Automatic box but I can’t believe the condition of the ‘metalwork’ on the cab!!

Good luck if you try to buy this…old experience says…this Dealer, (nice people though they undoubtedly are), have very deep pockets…and even shorter arms than a Scotsman…Bon Chance mes Braves…Cheerio for now.

Look what the scum have done to the rear of the chassis! Just to save a few minutes unbolting a winch, or whatever was there before. The price looks OK though.

Hi All
Two things its 6x6 and a G89 I think
Cheers Rich

Those front arches look extended to fit the big wheels, they don’t look standard to me.looks a big project.

I think it is an F89, the centre line of the front hub is close to the rear edge of the doorl on the G89 it’s close to the centre of the door panel making the above the probable answer to why no step at the front.

I don’t think it’s such a project in it’s self, but what a doner vehicle for the cab & engine with only 80,000km!! The rear bogie would be worth a few quid as well, but I recon that vehicle must have spent most of it’s life indoors to be in that condition!!

The axle is between the positions of the F and G models, to my eye. It’s a ?89.

There’s a chance that it’s neither, it could be a special order truck to an odd specification? I think the axle looks more like an F89 but without a side on photo it’s hard to tell but my money’s on it being an F89 rather than a G cos (IMHO) if the axle was in the ‘G’ position the front tyre would be rubbing on that front bumper.

Hiya…i’ll go for a F series. anyone who needs a good cab has one their by the looks of things.
you,ve got a good cab most likley a good engine a pair of diffs and 3 tons of scrap to weigh in.
its a pity there’s no fuel tank the’re in demand. anyone looking for a left hand drive cab has one
for 3 K. Reward will tell you that’s cheap if you need one.
a chap i know had a left hand drive F88 fire engine(on ebay at the mo)the cab was like new.

If you look on th rear view, the bottom corner of the cab is the same as an F but, if the axle was in the F position, the tyre would touch the rear of the arch. I reckon it is a “special”, possibly done by a firm llike Terberg or one of those. Can’t understand people wanting to cut it up for bits. If it is one of a kind, why not keep it as it is? Ok, it may be a bit of a bind on the road, what with the tractor tyres and 6x6, but plenty of restorers take their vehicles to the shows on a trailer anyway. If I had the time, space and money (I have none of any of those things!), I would be tempted to make it into a tractor unit. It would come in handy at places like Peterborough, towing the others out of the mud!

Hi All
It may even be a Terburg

I recon you’re spot on with the Terberg (type) theory & I also think your spot on with the axle position, on closer inspection the rear of the wheelarch is in about the same position as an F89/88 & the front is about the same as a G which would probably mean the axle is just about in between the two positions.

I’d love a standard F89 tractor rather than a big old 6x6, but unfortunately I don’t have much time to work on my F16 and certainly don’t have the cash for another ‘toy’ but good luck to anyone with the balls for the job

Yes, that’s what I was trying to say, but it came out wrong! It would make a great toy/tool for someone in the timber extraction trade, pulling the loaded trailers to the roadside… or someone with fond memories of 1970s Volvos, who lives on a farm… monsieur Saviem springs to mind. I bet he’s got a spare shed or two. :grimacing:
