eyesight test

my medical is due next month, can the doctor still do your eyesight test, or do i have to go to the opticians, had my eyes tested two weeks ago will i need to have them tested again at the opticians.

My doctor said he couldn’t do it and sent me off to the opticians.

Did my medical last week eye test included

When I had my last medical the doctor told me that he could do the eyesight test only if I can pass without needing any visual aids. As I wear glasses I had to go to the opticians for that part of the medical as the form needs specific information from your presciption.

Most Doctors don’t have the specialist opthalmic equipment needed for the DVLA requirements, so it has to be an optician.
It was for me anyway. Regards Tony.

we had a polish guy wanting to start with us a while ago,he said when he went for his eye test and the doc asked him to read the eyechart, his reply was…never mind reading it…i used to live next door to him…

If you wear glasses to pass the medical, just take the medical form to the optitions and get them to fill it in for you on the results of your last eye sight test, they will probably do it FOC, if you don’t need them you will have to ring the doc to ask if they can do it.

I wear glasses and my doctor did the eye test. Having said that he made a mess of filling in the form and they suspended my group 2 license till he filled it in right. Back driving again now I’m glad to say

The DR did eye a rudimentary sight test with snellen chart with and without glasses ,and entered the visual acuity values on the form, no issues with DVLA

Thanks for all your help, I only need glasses for reading, wonder if I sent my prescription back with the form it would do.

If you have only been prescribed glassed for reading then this should not have any bearing on the eye sight test, does the paperwork from the options not specify your visual acuity without correction ? also if only reading glasses required ,do dvla need to know?

doctors did mine he put the chart on the wall and walked about 40feet down the hall WTF
failed me had a right doo with the ■■■■■■ he even took my form and failed it
rang DVLA they said it happens all the time, they sent me another form went to boots and passed
went back to doctors made an appointment with practice manager and he made him apologise to me! must of really ■■■■■■ him off
but will never have an eye test at any doctors again
