Extreme Tramping

Are there still any companies left that do 2 or 3 week or more tramping ? If Yes - which ones do?
From advertisements looks like all do only 1 week except events and some specialist…

Apart from the ones on indeed for 19k annual…

There are the likes of S&k that do…Stage truck…Trans am trucking…Brian yeardleys…Prob a few more too.

I think Ralph Davies and Pulleyn still do weeks at a time UK if you want it.

Lets face it. People live in far worse.

I have heard it said, that some people actually save up money, and purchase a portable fibreglass toilet.

It has even been said, that they attach this stinking article to their cars, and then go driving around roads and motorways causing delays and misery. Living in one is bad enough, but why would you move it around the place?

Sort of like a kid and a stick, with a pile of dog crap. Bad enough as it is. Don’t make things worse.

Its been set!

Late to this as not on as often now-

Lived full time in my lorry for 9 years up to June this year, one of best things I ever did, loved it. That said I’m now enjoying living in a house and working in an office. Do what you want when you want and life is good, no matter what some dull naysayers say.

Best bet is go Irish if you want this. Could always drop me a cv  Luke.Vernon@virginialogistics.ie

Don’t forget you can’t take a regular weekly rest in the cab

Since when

Since the current regulations were introduced - keep up

The GV 262 states a driver may choose to take a daily rest or a reduced weekly rest in the vehicle (or words to that effect) - meaning any kind of daily rest but only a reduced weekly rest - no mention of a regular weekly rest, therefore it isn’t allowed.

Belgium were the first to bother with this little ‘gem’ of a rule, then others followed suit. I believe they only bother when it is a foreign registered vehicle. I understand the maximum fine (which is aimed at Operators) is in the tens of thousands of Euros. When DVSA have been asked about it they stated they would enforce the rule if they thought it was warranted based on individual circumstances.

As has been stated by robroy - does anybody care? Maybe not in the UK but it is part of the regulations. Better to be ‘aware’ of the rules rather than maybe get caught out. I suppose you could say it means a driver cannot be made/forced to take their regular weekly rest in a vehicle - so perhaps it is about driver welfare?

we were only talking about this on another group the other week, got one of the dvsa guys I know to check with his high command what their stance was, he came back saying that at present they have no planes to enforce the rule in the uk about taking weekly rests in cabs.
I must admit when I lived in my truck for over a year I was more relaxed than now living in a house, use to sleep a lot more and not worry about things.

Using planes to enforce rules is a bit ott. Is it high level bombing they are planning?

It’s just another bloody stupid rule made by somebody for no real reason that bears no resemblance to the real world.
Ok you are parked up for the weekend in some remote area abroad, you have all the kit you need food, drink, tv, cooker, coffee. You go on Trucknet and read that due to law, rule no 123xyz, tonight you have to pitch a tent as you have used up all your nights in the cab. So like a good lad you conform, and have a night out braving the elements with icicles on the end of your extremities while Jacques in Bruxxelles who thought up the law one day when he was bored is fast asleep in his Chambre de luxe nice and warm.
All this type of crap does my ■■■■■■ swede in.
