Extra long flatbed trailers

just wondered if anyone has any pics of really long flatbed trailer, i ask as always wondered how those overhead motorway gantries got delivered, as in pre-built all in one or delivered in sections, then driving up m1 near luton one afternoon my question was answered seeing 2 complete gantries on massive flatbed trailers within the roadworks. must be fun to reverse with!!

cheers

this is a pic of an empty extender opened up for the windmill blades that were coming out of Aberdeen.

Here is a pic of a 45m long load I escorted last year. There is also a link in the description to my youtube page, it shows us taking the load through Southampton. Im using a remote control on my dash to steer the trailer wheels manually. Karsten V. Olesen | 1st 45m long windmill blade mould moved … | Flickr

Another pic with the second load we done a day later. Also another youtube clip, this time coming out of Harwich. Karsten V. Olesen | 2nd 45m long windmill blade mould moved … | Flickr

Yup was there for about 8 years in all, ended up as one of the blue eyed boys with a South Wales coil most Sundays

Its how I ended up in the North east, was living in Birmingham when my old firm went bust, an owner driver mate bought a wagon for me and I set to work for FVS, when he gave up FVS offered me a job if I moved up to to Teesside.

i must have seen you loads of times then, i was on for potto for a few years, you wouldnt think it was the same firm though as the FVS drivers used to think they were better than us prestons boys

We didnt think, we knew
mainly because we didnt have to put up with half the hassle you boys did. Martin and Derek were both good guys to work for, I did a couple years on the coca cola contract under Potto and Neots and the way the office talked to the drivers was totally different.

I think its a shame that the FVS name has all but gone now, even though the company and “O” licence is still FVS nearly all the motors are in Potto colours.

Found a couple more
