In fairness to HS he has been with Stobart/Jenkys on the Biomass side for a right few yrs so must be happy enough wage/work/hrs and kit wise!!![emoji106]

Unless you find someone on here working the exact shifts that you are looking for, then no one will be able to give you answer.

For example. Dozy works for stobart but seemingly in conjunction with explore. I think he does Mon to Fri. He will get paid differently from someone working with him that does 4 on 4 off.

I’m just day hired to them happysack , they plan my work but I have no other involvement with explore other than that ,wages etc are through mib
I do tues - sat ( was on mon- fri )

dozy:

I work for Explore transport but wouldn’t have a clue what the wages are for 4 on 4 off is as I’m on a different contract and it’s a pretty new thing for them too the best thing I would suggest would be to give them a call then u can make your mind up if what’s on offer is for u ■■ And if the job will suit u ■■ At the end of the day nothing ventured nothing gained by asking the question .

Are you pushed to work max hours ?

It’s £9 for first 55 hrs then £10 any hr after that £10 a day meal allowance and £22.50 night out money. In Scotland anyway not sure if the same down south

A mate of mine had a look at them a few weeks ago and this is what he was told but although he is on the same hourly rate he gets proper overtime where he is so he didn’t take it any further.
One other thing that put him off was the amount of big brother stuff on the truck, including 6 cameras, 1 of which is in the cab pointing at the driver.

Look Jerry J, I work for the biomass side. My payslip is now irrelevant because I don’t get hourly pay anymore. Maybe you’d be better asking Dozy. The slip I put up wasn’t wet your pants exciting, just a standard week, but i cant remember what it was as it was a few years ago.

Personally I’d rather phone a company to ask wages than ask on a forum.

I do know that I see a lot of explore, stobart and ws wagons round here looking very important with all their flashing lights on because they are pulling a flatbed with a standard load.

Good luck with your job search, Jerry

Trouble is, when you do this - you’ll be told the rate for Bank Holidays on the 14th Full moon of the year when it coincides with the queen’s birthday. That is, the very best rate you never ever get - but not the “monday-friday day rate” until after you’ve signed up, and “committed” in the firm’s eyes… :frowning:

Alternatively, you can ask someone who actually works there face to face. :bulb:

Finally, some helpful people with the information I was looking for. But thanks for your input too Sadsack, it was fun while it lasted.

Well what can I say, that’s complete pish money. And I don’t fancy having cameras pointed at me either.

Cheers, you just saved me a wasted interview.

This is first I’ve heard about driver facing cameras to be honest yes our units at the depot I work from do have cameras filming 360 degrees round the cab 1 on each quarter panel 1 on the rear of cab and 2 forward facing but these are fitted for Crossrail and insurance etc the same as most fleets these days to be fair . Sorry I couldn’t help u regarding wages for 4 on 4 off but as I previously said I’m on a different contract and no one at my depot works that shift patten at the moment !

I don’t mind 360 cameras. In fact, I welcome them. Driver facing is a step too far for me personally. Others have their own opinion.

I assume the rates on 4 on 4 off would be exactly the same in the week as you with maybe a slight bump up for Saturdays and Sundays. Still looking at less than £30k all in. Not quite enough to make me take the plunge.

I did 71 hrs this week ,5 days on that work , they want to put you in a early grave , I’m that tired I went to sleep and woke up and couldn’t get out the bunk , couldn’t understand what was going on , frightened the living daylights out of me, after what seemed like ages I realised I was trying to get out the back wall of the cab :frowning: :frowning: .

You need a new job mate. Seriously.

I had something similar recently though. I woke up and was convinced the truck was moving. I jumped out of bed and pulled the curtains back to make sure. Was weird :astonished:

I work for explore transport/old select plant hire. And from my personal opinion the new contracts are sh?t!
A lad I spoke to needs to work 70+ hours a week mon-fri four nights away for the same money I earn for 48hrs. They only get 2 weeks Statutory sick pay as the old select contracts get 10 weeks full. The majority of new starters are coming from backgrounds not related to flat work or construction and have absolutely no clue what’s going on. There running round likes it’s there last weeks pay and it’s fu?King the job right up! What’s really grinding my gears is this new jv is bringing all the sh?ty bad Bad practices with it… For example running with a wide load without a permit using one strap to secure a 7 1/2 ton ballast weight, and it’s only a matter of time before one these dumb cu?ts kill someone. Anyhoo I think I’ve expressed my feelings towards this new fu?kup…

Any reason why you put up with all that ?

What a load of rubbish, anyone with 1/2 ounce of brain knows it’s all stobarts fault , they’ve zb the job up , and them bloody Elfs haven’t helped :unamused:

Well I suppose you could say, the money’s good and the working conditions are great… But unfortunately since stobarts came into this I am no longer a colleague or friend. It’s my unit that is the centre of all the attention, and it doesn’t matter if I have a wife and children. There following a computer system which tells them how many hours I’ve done and what the units earning. And that’s the biggest shame of all. Most of us feel it won’t be long until we’re forced out for not conforming with the rest of the doughnuts doing 70+ hours. I do low loader work which is more money, and this ex stobart fella who now works for explore said to me he would do my job at his rate of pay at £9 hr… Now how the fu?k can I compete with that. Most of the lads are looking for other work but every Tom ■■■■ and Harry wants you to work again 70+ hours for peanuts.
So we carry on with our days numbered until something comes up.
