Hi
Anyone know when exactly an endorsement stays on your licence. IE My endorsement was placed on 12/1/08 and therefore I assume expires tomorrow(IN10 - 4yrs). So should I wait till Friday to apply for a replacement licence?

it’s from the date of offence in your case, not from the conviction date, so you could have already sent it off if you wanted.
but it’s cheaper just to ask for a new licence, tell them you’ve lost the old one.
i think you can do it over the phone now.

Hiya …yes 3 years but 4 years on your insurance…replacement licence will cost you as endorsement removal…
why bother■■? the endorsements will still be on the DVLA computeter for ever and a day… so why pay good money for really nothing…
John
once your points are off your licence, DVLA keep no further record.
i’ve checked many times in the past.

A “clean” licence is preferable to one that has “spent” endorsements on it imo.
Valid for 3 years, on licence for 4. Insurance company’s usually ask for any convictions in the previous 5 years IME.
4 Years on licence, 5 years for insurance. Go figure. Money grabbing zb’ers

I agree, especially as I believe the OP is currently looking for work.
Send license off with change of address (free of charge) to a friend/relatives address. Endorsements will then be removed, at some point in the future change address back. I was in the DVLA office in Bristol once, the guy behind the counter suggested this to a man who was complaining of the cost of having his endorsements removed. The reply of ‘paying is bad enough, moving house is taking the ■■■■!’ brought the waiting room to hysterics.
i knew my photo part was due for renewal so i hung on until then and when it came back with a new picture all my expired points were gone as well
Thanks for the advice. I am not against paying the 20 quid. Just wondered when the points would have vanished from my record to guarantee a clean returned licence.
Tachograph is right. I am job hunting and also the agencies are saying they can place me with more work with a clean licence. If only I could count on that hey !! lol
