Hi all.Toowise,it’s funny you say that about the papers saying '‘siberian’'weather,we had the same here this week. The papers were all screaming about a new ice age and ‘‘siberian’’ weather as we had the first [but i’m sure not the last] drop in temp to min35c
Mike
Ive just gone onto Google to search something else and their logo is depicting the 125th anniversary of the Worlds largest Snowflake.
talk about dragging the bottom of the barrel.

Mid January and there is a chance of Snow. I blame the Russians and the Polish

I wonder where Kate Bush is now with her ‘‘cloud busting machine’’ could that be causing it all
OMG Snow in Winter
Coming back from Caton Lancaster to Sheffield late yesterday afternoon a couple of inches of slushy snow and the M62, Woodhead and the Snake are closed. Local Radio haven’t got a clue what they are talkin about, driving through Tintwhistle and they announce Woodhead is closed to all traffic it wasn’t. It took a long time to get through due to idiots that had abandoned their cars. When it comes to driving in the snow the English are a laughing stock.
That’s about as close as I’ve ever come to a rant on here, but it really is pathetic.

You should have heard the people phoning and texting into real radio wales
most were having panic attacks and describing the half a centimetre of snow as treacherous
Hi all.Would it be boasting or merely irritating to say that we have just had another 15cms of snow today. But it’s warming up,min15c. Mike

It would be neither shag…Oh how you must laugh at the incompetence over here.
i reckon it is all about money , if plod puts the barriers up and closes the road , the county council save the money on grit and the driver’s wages . at least they won’t make any money from the average speed cameras on the cat and fiddle
Forty years ago we had several snowfalls of 4’’ plus each winter and drivers just got on with it.It did cause a few problems and never made the news, but most drivers coped OK.Nowadays with more news reporters and instant film from around the country it gets sensationalised and if a dusting of snow falls in the south east its a blizzard.
Hi Shropsbri. No i do not laugh at the incompetence of local government.I am more disappointed at all the needless costs and inconvenience caused by it.And i have to say i am grateful to live up here where it is a ‘‘way of life’’.Mike
It used to be up over the hedges here on the Shrops/Powys border when I was kid…You mean 4’ Dave, not 4"? Although they wasn’t getting on with it then
You expat or native Mike?
Mike I live not that far from you and yes it was four foot and more when it drifted.Very often on the A44 over Radnor Forest the drifts were over top of the telephone poles and as soon as the snow blower blew it out it filled in again.By saying four inches of snow I was referring to an average normal snowfall several times each winter.
Knighton livestock market last winter everything carried on OK.
Cheers Dave.

Hi Bri.I’m expat in a roundabout way.I was born in Colchester but lived for 30 yrs in Holland,2yrs in Afghanistan,1yr in Canada[my wife was Quebecois].The last company i worked for in Holland had a lot of work to the North of Scandinavia, especially in the winter and as i was the only one daft enough to like coming up here i got most of the winter trips.
As it is so much like Canada up here, the climate, way of life and the people and mentality i decided to buy a house here to retire to[i was 58].After buying the house i spent all my free time here and after 2 yrs i decided not to wait till 65 but to move earlier, especially as there is an abundance of work here and i was offered a job straight away. The life is more relaxed than Europe and the living costs are quite reasonable.Ok,its a little more ‘‘primitive’’ but if you can do without the’’ hustle and bustle’'of the big city its wonderful.
Hi all.Just a note to cheer anyone up who’s ‘‘freezing’’ in plus 10c.Cheer up,we just had the coldest night so far this winter up here, minus 43c ,but hey, they say it’s gonna warm up next week to min 20c
Take care.Mike
