Exhaust system warning DAF

Half of our new 63 plate CFs arrived last week and one of them had the Ad blue fault happen after 3 days on the road. Why haven’t DAF sorted this seemingly common fault out by now?

Offfft this is old news am on the engine power limited stage now, that’s tons eh fun  went up the Bellshill bypass hill the other day doing about 3mph!!!

Hi, I am a DAF truck owner here in Africa (Ghana). I have a CF 65.220 truck with a 54 UK number plate here in Ghana. It all started with an Amber Engine Warning Lamp with later turned to Red. Although the truck can be started but it cranks for a long time even after replacing the batteries with new ones. Also, anytime the Engine warning lamps comes on during driving, the engine power derates to like 10mph with very thick black smoke emerging from the exhaust, Please help as am confused and worried. I need your help as there is no DAF dealer here. N.B. This truck does not have the adblue system as it was manufactured before the regulation was enacted. Please help… cheers  :open_mouth:

I have been unfortunate enough to have a CF for the last two weeks as my XF is at DAF.
Was going ok for two days then the exhaust warning light came on. A day later it went into Limp mode. Pain in the arse when fully loaded. Anyway as I was away all week I wrote a defect report everyday. Came to work this morning and the problem still existed so I drove it round to the fitters. Five minutes later and and they had “sorted the problem”.

Off I went heading down south and after 3 hours exhaust system warning. 2 hours after that Limp mode.

If anybody has been held up by a artic doing 25 on a motorway today I can only apologise. I really dread going up hills at the moment

DAF told us when ad blue came out to allow it to drop between 1/4 to 1/2 tank as this allows sloshing that breaks up the crystals. The guys that kept topping up every night kept having problems…

Take it to an ad blue doctor,£500 well spent

Start with the basics…a new air filter.

Hi GasGas, thanks very much for the reply. Pls I replaced the air filter with a new one and the problem still exist. Do you have any other suggestions pls…am grateful

Strip the pre filter housing on the side of the fuel tank ,it will be full of debris ,if so tank needs cleaning out …The feed for the filter comes out the base of the tank, and anything in the tank blocks it…You will find it will probably put the warning on when you put the engine under load and are requesting more fuel

Other faults can be faulty injector.Faulty relief valve …If you can get a fault code it will help ,though I realise that may not be possible

stupid little filter in the adblue inlet pipe is a common one also, about the size of a fingernail, tends to get blocked if tank is run very low / empty

We’re abouts is this fitter and paper filter as mine is doing it to, fitted new nox senser still the same.

Thanks andrew

ITEM #3
Push the clip in and wiggle the pipe off. (It will leak out adblue all over you) look inside the unit you will see a plastic screw head. Flat screwie! Unscrew and replace. It’s about the size of a thumb nail
