Is it just me or whenever i drive i get an awfull taste in my mouth from the exhaust fumes is there anything you can do to stop it or is it something you just have to put up with bear in mind i do drive with the windows closed to prevent it just like any help on the matter thanks.

You shouldn’t get the taste of exhaust fumes if your driving a modern ish wagon with the windows shut, there must be a problem somewhere. 
Exhausts don’t stink anything like they used to, particularly since Euro 2 regs.

I would get it looked at A.S.A.P, the fumes contain carbon monoxide which can cause drowsiness and in enough of a concentration death.
Not to mention the particulates in the fumes which are carcinogenic, If you are experiencing the fumes with the windows closed, exhaust gas is leaking into the cab.
