There is now another exemption to this ban, similar to the one between Calais and Belgium, you can now drive on Sunday from Ouistreham to the Centre Routiers in Caen which is at Rue des Frères Lumière, Mondeville, junction 15 of the Caen peripherique on the eastern side.

Think the dispensation came into effect earlier in the year in response to the parking ban in the port.
Hours are Saturday: 17.00 - 24.00 and Sunday: 10.00 - 22.30
To date parking is still allowed within the port at Cherbourg
