A new truck stop is currently being built near Wetherby. It’s actually at the side of Wetherby Prison at Thorp Arch. Parking for around 100 artics is estimated and there’ll be shower blocks at the minimum. Also trying to convince the owner for a cafe and WiFi hotspots etc but it’s early days yet.
If anyone drives Dutch co. HSF Logisitics, you’ll know where it is as a lot of your UK drivers weekend there.

Do the gypsy’s still park-up on the corner of the Thorp Arch (I think) road a few miles towards York??
I bet they’re rubbing their hands with glee and digging out those big ol’ diesel cans!!

no stuart,there is no access to the A1 from that road now iirc 
Plenty of free parking in the area if you know where to find it though… 
…Although it is a shame if it’s been scrubbed, as the town wagon park is an absolute hole. None of our lads use it AFAIK - in fact most regulars park in the industrial estate 'round the corner, leaving the truck park empty.
If anyone did go for it, they’d do well, there isn’t anywhere with facilities on that stretch, and at just over an hour from Teesside and 2 hours from Tyneside, there’d be loads of regular custom from lads running out who want to get a bit further than Exelby or Knayton.
