BBC ONE primetime are looking for six lively individuals to take part in an exciting new antiques series.
It is said that anyone can be successful in the antiques game if they have a good eye and are prepared to learn. So are you willing to dedicate a period of your time (various weeks + weekends from the beginning February to the end of March 2005) to be tutored by top antique experts in everything from dating furniture to looking for hallmarks, from using the tools of the trade to spotting that elusive bargain? And with the possibility of a cash reward?
If the answer is YES to all these questions we would like to hear from you!
Each week you will be taken through a location-based crash course in different antique specialities which will involve mini-games and tests. You will also be introduced to the great auction houses and leading names in the business who will share their own experiences of making it in the antique world with the inevitable highs and lows of the antique trader.
So how will you know whether you’re making it or faking it? Well, the group will receive increasing sums of cash to spend on an antique of their choice to sell at a profit to prove you have mastered that week’s lesson. And at the end of the series when the learning period is over, a final lump sum will be given to buy stock from wherever you want to exhibit and sell at a prestigious antiques fair. Here world-renowned collectors wheel and deal so by this time you should definitely know the antiques biz and any profit you make will be yours to keep.
We are not looking for people that have an extensive knowledge of antiques, although if you did it would obviously help. Perhaps you have always been able to spot a good bargain or maybe you just have an eye for vintage style. So if you are male, female, young, old, single or a couple, high or low income, titled or ordinary, live anywhere in the UK, from whatever background, culture or ■■■■■■ orientation — as long as you are lively and fun, feel comfortable in-front of camera and are passionate about the subject — you could stand a chance of being one of the chosen six in this unique antique opportunity.
