I’ve been using Snippy for a while now and it is an excellent little screen capture tool. I got it from ‘somewhere else’ but have found it as a free download here.
You can capture free hand or hold down the shift key to select a square/rectangle shape.

You can just press “PrtSc” (print screen) on your keyboard and then open up paint and paste and that gives a screen grab. Just incase you never knew.
I admit to not knowing that for quite a while but I find the normal ‘print screen’ option a bit awkward. The beauty of Snippy is that you can just select the bit you want to capture (free-hand as well).
