Generally owner drivers look after the vehicle better as they have to pay the repair bills and stand the down time, and analogue tacho because of the software and download hassle for a new starter.

most places that use Anny tachos still scan them and have them analysed though

I’d also add that most o/ds can make things last ,worn thin as a knife blade ,make a rumbling diff last ,a body floor that looks good but thin as paper ,save all the suspect tyres to put back on ,drive carefully not to overheat a knacked engine ect I could go on .

Always best with a choice where a load are just taken off fleet or lease because of time elapsed and you can take your pick. A lot of single trucks offered out there privately will have issues.
Could be a few owner drivers trading in, and putting new one’s on the road for the 64 plate next week. Most of the quarries this way are crying out for lorries, as they are busy.

Which causes another problem, anything any good is strong money at the moment, though if looking for a pre digi taco you will need to look round the trucks well as they will have done a fair amount of work!
There is a tidy 2004 Volvo FM eight legger of Bartletts on fleabay.Mainly aggregate work from a good company. Worth a look.
