Been allowed out tomorrow and will be going to Brakes at Grantham from Evercreech any suggestions on a route with an articulated vehicle carrying cold stuff ?
Cirencester - Fosse way - Leicester -Melton Mowbray - Grantham if under 4.2m
(Them Romans knew a thing or two about direct routes)
Just to add gets a bit rural village/windy between Princethorpe and Leicester if you stick on the original Fosse Way but it’s perfectly ok in artic for the competent. Option to detour off to Magna Park and jump on the M1 at Lutterworth as well.
Carrying cold stuff do you want to hold hands

That isn’t the way that we go, although we NEVER have Evercreech as our first/only drop. We’d do it the opposite way round though.
We go A52 (yes you can get under the bridge in Grantham @ 13’9" with ease!)
A46
M1
M69
Either take M6/M42 or A45/A46 towards Evesham not much in it time wise (M6 is supposedly better for the old fuel usage.)
M5
A39
A361
A371
Bobs ya uncle, fannies ya aunt. Like I said though we’d have the likes of Weston/Chard/Taunton/Bridgwater etc etc before this so it may not be most direct.

It’s no wonder grantham is a bottle neck and bridges are being hit left right and centre ,if your comming into grantham to go too brakes whether you use 607 from melton or 52 use the a1 n/ b and come off at gonerby services ( yes I do know I live in grantham) ,I guess that’s the result of drivers who can’t read maps ,bloody sat- navy’s
Went A37, M5, M42, M6, M69, A46, A52 thought I’d stick to the major roads had a lot of weight on. Anyway 25 pallets tipped in 10 minutes just waiting on paperwork what a great place.

Apologies, I was just giving instructions to Grantham, I totally forgot that Brakes is up the A1, I’ve never been to it and only been past it once (to stop at the services on New Years Eve).
As for sat navs, I have one but haven’t used it in 4 months as I only drive in Kent, some parts of London and locals on the way home now days, so it sits in my bag.

Lucky you, I do Brakes Aylesford 2/3 times a week and it takes an age! Although recently it’s been sub 2 hours.

In and out in 55 mins, could have been quicker but wasn’t told it was drop & drive but hey ho
happy days.
