It could have been these two !!!
It appears Mr Robinson got his just reward but the other case is a joke. It sends the message that if you don’t respond to prison then alright we give up, off you go home. Typical magistrates
It really winds me up reading things like this.
Are we protecting the offenders or the victims ?
We have got to remember that imprisonment is not just to be seen as a punishment to improve the behavior of the offender, but most certainly also a mean of keeping other people in our society safe. How do they justify to endanger me, my family, my loved ones…and everybody else by letting this man continue his disrespectful behavior ? Are we going to wait for him to actually kill someone on the roads before he can be put behind bars ? And how are we going to defend this decission to the family of the person/people he kills with his drink driving ? He is clearly a danger to other road users, if he can’t him self keep off the road we must ensure that he do so by imprisoning him.
As for the weak excuse, that he is caring for his mother, is successfully used to keep him out of prison and able to reoffend is simply horrendeous. He might not have been such a danger to other people if his mother had given him a decent upbringing and some social values in the first place ! I say,- put the mother in a nursing home and the bloke in prison ! The money we spend doing this is peanuts and well worth it to safe some innocent road user’s life.

we arent even allowed to defend ourselves Jo. if someone attempts to jack your truck and you crack them with something, its you who gets done for assault. its ridiculous. it still wouldnt stop me though. the truck stays with me as long as its my responsibility
That’s just a joke, I notice how they didn’t charge him (the first story) with driving without insurance, this seems to be a common theme amongst court cases involving these sort of drivers. Perhaps I won’t renew mine next year, it will certainly save me a load of cash.Of course I know I will but it makes you wonder why you need to bother running legal.

I was thinking exactly the same thing! I know its not that simple but I believe its still a valid point.

Doesn’t it… !!! I’m about to fork out over £800 on my car insurance (high risk car, not bad driver… ) and this story just stinks…
Financially it’s cost him £75 + courst costs… I bet that’s less than my £800…
But of course it’s easy to see why… Law abiding citizens like ourselves are easy prey… We won’t cause a fuss, cuz we’re afraid of the law…
Police - “Bend over - you were going 3mph over the limit”…
Us - “Why of course… !!!”
Shafted left right and centre…
Then there are these low-life scum bags who constantly live on the wrong side of the law, and when questioned, they kick up such a stink, they get off… !!!
If you and I, the people on the street can see this, how come the law can’t… ■■?
IMHO I think he should be sent to clean up the aftermath of DD accidents for a year… It sounds extreme, but if the tried and tested holiday camp… sorry… PRISON route isn’t working, maybe sweeping up brain will…
I sometimes deliver to the Stratton store, and frequently use the 417 / 419… From now on, i’ll keep a cautious eye out for a wandering car… THANKS POLICE… I feel sooo much safer

Chrisie…
trouble with this country is, the chattering classes that run it think we are civilised, and a large chunk of the population isn’t.
Society is a “club” with its own rules and regulations. If you don’t want to join it, well that should be your look out. There should be consequences. As for the whinging about human rights of prisioners, well what about the human rights of the victims.
Personally, I’d bang them up in boot camps, breaking rocks and digging holes from dawn till dusk until it broke them. I want THEM to PAY! Some people will never be re-educated by the prision system.
If there was a political party that really listened to “real people” they would win the next election on a landslide.
Personally, I’m sick of it. Everybody I know is sick of it!
Rant over - I’m going in the garden to kill some weeds.
Daff
…king unbelieveable.

Well, the law is only a reflection of the politicans we’ve voted in to run our country. For the law to change we must change the people who can change it, so perhaps we should have this in mind when we vote next Thursday.
It is difficult though, cos you might vote for a party because of other issues that are important to you, and then they might turn out to be total tweeds on the crime issue. I can never find a part I completely agree with.

Well thats whats good about our political system, would you want tony blair in power untill he retires (even if you agree with everything he does)?
With reference to Gary Philpott , For his defence Rob Ross also stated that “Gary Philpott is an intelligent man”. Yeah, right !!! that’s why he’s been to court 24 times and has 28 previous motoring conviction’s, and doesnt care about anyone using the road, he’s very intelligent. You tell that to the victim’s parents ,friend’s or children, when he seriously hurts someone, or god forbid kill’s someone.
