Ever ran someone over

i know its a bit ghoulish but non theless be intrested to read about

i havent ever ran full over anyone, but back about 20 yrs ago was on my way to work in an old Sierra car . it was a very murky morning and i was on a twisting country road. You know how in every town or village theres a chap [or woman] who walks the roads, seems you see em for years most days out walking on it clutch an old carrier bag or whatever . Anyhow as i motored along out of the gloom i see the walker on my nearside, too late for me to avoid him. Luckily for him the sierra had a very low snout and as i careered into him he merely slid onto the bonnet and off again. And was right as rain. i did stop to check on him and others stopped to see what was up. i was a bit shook up- tho course he was more than i was

never did see him again !

I was walking to work about 20 years ago, a journey I had done for a long time, I used to see Drivers most mornings but on one particular murky morning this pillock in a Ford Sierra scooped me up. I was ok but started to use the bus after that [emoji12]

I was double manned a few years ago, and was in the passenger seat coming out of Kidderminster when a lad came off the path, fell over in front of us, got up again, then there was a thud. Neither of us would get out until his mate’s came to my door and said he was alright. However when got out he was in the central reservation with his leg totally mangled, as the wheel had gone over it. It turned out he was 16, ■■■■■■■ and his mates had pushed him. If he hadn’t have got up after falling, I’m sure he would have been killed.

No but nearly, in London many years ago taking a back double down a street with cars parked on both sides (30 mph limit) A cyclist came out from behind one of the parked cars without looking and somehow I managed to stop. (just) I was only doing about 20 mph luckily. Makes me cringe when I see the speed some travel down roads like these.

With my old J4 van aged 17, I hit an old granny’s wicker basket thing with wheels , the sort that they dragged about. She pushed it out into the traffic between parked vans in front of herself, straight into my path on a main road , it and her shopping were destroyed , I thought I had gone over her at about forty mph, it was wedged under the van …I got out as white as a sheet and shaking . So glad when she started shouting at me from between the vans !

I ran over a traffic warden once.

He zig zagged about, ran up an alley, across a park and into a field but I got the ■■■■■■■ eventually

Been on the wrong side twice…once when on the pavement with a bag in my hands on ltl work .little bstrd jumped the kerb to squeeze past my wagon and hit me on the side with his mirror on a scabby handpainted fiesta …after I i got up the polis were called "can you identify the vehicle " aye heres the kers wing mirror…2weeks off as I was black n blue and couldn’t bend .Second one on a narrow road ,I was on the road side yellow vest on etc ,beacons on motor was on the traffic side for 30secs to grab a rope when an old bstrd in a Volvo came flying up ,the wagon behind me blew his horn ,I turned round facing the road on tiptoes the old bstrd s car hit my steel capped boots together meanwhile I’m leaning over his roof and his radio ariel comes away in my hands   along wae a couple o dents left in the roof…he has the nerve to stop and start shouting about ME damaging his car!!! believe me he took off quickly when I charged up the road towards him screaming abuse carrying a loadbar.never heard an other thing about it.

Years ago a bloke I know of had someone literally drop to the floor in front of him, nothing he could do to avoid him and the man succeeded in his bid to commit suicide…shame he had to ruin someone else life in the process.

Yes to the above, the person died, being sat in a panda car for 6hours, all locals looking at you, then driven to cop shop, read your rights, statement taken, then released, truck impounded, then having to arrange transport back(that was easy part) then not being told for 12months, weather there were charges or not, then flying back to collect truck, coming home, reloaded sent back to factory near accident scene, very nervous on entering site, to be told, “don’t worry mate wasn’t your fault, two witnesses” relax " want a brew drive"
Very shortened version of events.
Me I’m fine, move on that was yesterday, yes I know somebody died, but that doesn’t mean my life should stop.

No but as a manager on the buses I was first on the scene for three seperate fatalities.

First was two drunk guys messing about, one pushed the otger off the kerb in front of one of our drivers.

Second was an old guy who just walked out in front of the bus. That’s got to me not because of the mess but more the little things like seeing his shopping and shopping list scattered over the road etc.

Third involved multiple fatalities including a child and I can’t go much further than that as it’s still under police investigation.

The oldies are always the best ones!

When I was on the buses, I had a drunk walk out literally in front of me. No chance of stopping. Splatted him Garfield style on the front window.

He ended up with concussion and a broken arm.

It also closed the Soho Road on Birmingham at 645pm on a Friday night, made the traffic news too.

how did you manage to get up to splatter speed on the soho. :open_mouth:

Around 5 years ago, Madrid central, a young lad on a bike came out from behind a parked Saab straight in front of me, stood on the brakes and literally just touched him pushing him off his bike. Luckily he got away completely injury free, not even a scratch. I had two witnesses, one a doctor who was sat at a T junction, both in my favour, police said no case to answer. I literally only had the brakes replaced all round the day before…

Had a near miss last year driving out of Cheltenham town centre at around 1am. Gormless drunk lad who was too busy looking at his phone just stepped out into the road in front of me. Hit the anchors, swerved and missed him but because he was ■■■■■■ he didn’t even react until after id pretty much come to a stop.

It was a Friday night, so revellers out everywhere as were the police. They heard me sit on the horn (which i guess drew their attention at 1am and woke a few people up!) and carted the young lad off to give him a good talking to.

■■■■ me up for a little bit but you’ve just gotta get on with things. Was anyone hurt? No. Did anyone die? No. Was anything damaged? No.
