Eurotunnel CO2 Lane?

Just started going into Europe for the first time & when coming back I’m confused as to why some trucks pull into the co2 Lane & others don’t !!

On my first trip I pulled into this area but yesterday coming back over I was pushed for time & thought bugger it & went straight passed to check in area.

Can anyone enlighten me as to whether you need to pull in & why some do & some don’t !!

Cheers

Curtains / tilts etc pull in, get checked and CMR Stamped for the all clear.
Covers your arse if problems later on.

Piece of mind.
Co i used to work for insisted that it was done as part of the checklist homeward and the cmr was stamped by le frog securite(waste of space)Basically covering youre own arse mate.
“Pushed for time” . . it takes all of 5mins

Cheers for the info guys, only bi passed it yesterday as there where 2 getting checked & people queued up behind them !! Hence me carrying on to check in.

It doesn’t really matter as they get inside the compound and get on a trailer in there once you have gone past the barriers. But if you stopped and did the CO2, you have done all you can. At the company I worked at, it was compulsory to get the stamp on the cmr and check list

Thanks you’ve just asked a question I’ve been meaning to ask for ages. so is it just for soft sided vehicles?

Yep.

If you ever cross via ferry then all soft side get CO2 and all box get heart beat detector.

No it’s for anything they can get a probe into. they will also check box vans too .I don’t bother with it myself( don’t park in silly places and always get in back at last stop before hand) as the British don’t trust it . Even with the stamp for the co2 the uk bit will put you thru lane 5 even if you moan that you have done the co2 they will tell you they don’t trust it

When you get a£600 fine as I did with four on board you start having time and this I don’t park in silly places doesn’t make any differance anymore very few imagrants get in at docks these days they have gangs in vans driving the routes that uk bound trucks use I came out of Italy stopped south of Reims and one hit it to Calais thinking I was safe I just gave it a quick once over theirs big money to be made and the gangs will cash in …if you show you have made an effort to stop stowaways then you won’t get fined you can down load a check sheet off the customs and excise web site for what they class as minimum effort locks , seals, TIR cord etc…

i was ordered in there once by Le Frog with a baton and a gun on his hip, so, who was i to argue?

the woman came out with her probe, looked at the trailer, scratched her head and asked me why i had gone to the CO2 lane, i explained about her garlic eating surrender monkey friend at the entrance who directed me in there, as i was pulling a box trailer, she then asked me where she should stick it :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

at that point, for once in my life, i decided to keep quiet

I managed to acquire about 16 immigrants in northern Italy once, Navarra services I think it was, I only had about 8 fridge display units on so they were easy to spot. I heard them climbing in in the early hours, waited til daylight, then rounded up a couple of drivers to help me evict them.

Looked to be 4 families, a couple of babies, some youngsters & about 10 adults, they were amenable enough, they apologised to me, I apologised to them, then they hopped out & disappeared into the wooded area, no doubt planning the same again for the following night
