European Experience

We are taking 2 units to Bulgaria on Thursday, I’m driving one and a mate is taking the other. It looks like this could be ongoing work if everything goes ok.
I’ve seen how many newbies want to give Euro work a crack. So if anyone with a cat C licence wants to share the driving and earn a few quid, Then send me a PM with your number.
It won’t pay a fortune as what i pay you will come out of my cut. However, If it does turn out to be regular work you would end up taking one yourself and earn full wages. The wages are quite good, That’s how i can afford to pay for the extra driver.

I thought you were working for someone for £500 a week?

Confused.

The word you are looking for is “dreamer” hope that clears up your confusion Conor

£500 per week for what?

No, I was offered a job for that. This is just another job. Maybe ongoing, maybe not. We’ll just have to see.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Running to Bulgaria and back is no big deal, People are doing it every day, So why would it be a dream?

Oh right, thought you’d taken it.

So there paying you top money when they can pay some Bogdan 50quid a day then he can bring it back to screw the domestic haulage industury.

I can vouch for the fact that Limeyphil is on the straight and narrow on this one, cos i`m going too, just finalising the details.

Pat yourselves on the back for screwing the British haulage industury further as its either eastern europeans doing it undercuuting rates or British idiots working for pennys to try and make a living where there isnt one to say they have there own lorrys.

I think you need to get a life, the way i see it is, anyone doing this job, is doing it as a Brit. The company concerned is either gonna go to the wall, or save a lot of money and re-register, then continue working within the EU on international work, and staying in business. I dont see you mention brits working in Holland, Germany, France, Belgium etc etc, or is that ok in your mind. The Eastern Blockers are here, theyre not gonna go home anytime soon, so we have to work around that, The times they are a changin Anyway its a british company, trying to compete in the market, and if you check the ways it can be done, its only screwing the British Government, who firstly have instigated the pressures within the industry. Sadly, it costs a few quid, so its almost impossible for an owner driver to do the same ( costwise ) although theres nothing stopping him, i could have organised it myself, Having a BG residency, and property there, but didnt need the hassle anymore. Nowdays i prefer someone else to have the worry, and myself to sit back and relax, and enjoy the ride, and earn a few quid now and again, whats wrong with that.

To be completely honest if I was still running my own lorries I would seriously consider running them on BG plates, I would have British drivers, as I know plenty of good ones, so wouldn’t have a problem in that department. If I did however, because there was a shortage of drivers in the UK, I would have to reconsider the option of using Eastern European drivers, if the choice was between parking my lorries or having a driver with a penchant for shiny tracksuits, guess what option I would take, a clue…there would be a lot of static :exclamation:

I couldn’t give two [zb]s about VOSA or the taxman, neither of them have my best interests at heart, so [zb] them and [zb] the horse they rode in on too :smiling_imp:

Might as well register them in Bulgaria probably be Bulgarians driving them.
