G8YMW:
As someone who was born and bred on a farm (And just old enough for Harold Wilson’s referendum) I say OUT!!!
Saddens me to say that I voted the right way and not alot has changed.
The politicians said
“EEC has brought about peace in Europe” I thought it was NATO
“Trading opportunities” In a saturated market■■? I dont think so.
I have always believed that the EEC would be no good as long as France is in it. (They are in it only for what they can screw out of their partners)
The only time the EEC did anything for the UK was when we had a sugar shortage (1974?) other than that they have consistantly screwed us over with the connivance of our politicians (Yes even the “Iron Lady”)
Britain had the most efficient farms in Europe by far and certain food prices doubled overnight when we joined Europe.
Animal feed for my Uncle’s cows went from £42 per ton to £80 per ton in less than 6 months.
I saw in another thread someone said that he was told (By a lecturer?) that German farms were the most efficient.
Sorry mate you have been stuffed. If 5 hectares 10 cows and a job at BMW’s ? Not my idea of efficiency
Besides I think the EU is one Gravy Train that wants derailing, sooner the better (Then the banks)
Being told by our own government that ze Germans really are ze master race and more efficient than everyone else after we beat them twice in two world wars is nothing new.The EU is run by ze Germans for the benefit of ze Germans (and the British bankers who’ve invested in German industry not ours).
While the idea of making eastern europe richer at our expense is just another example of German ‘logic’ in action.

Out please, don`t need to be in to trade, in fact we were better off before the wall came down!
If you mean the Berlin Wall, what has that to do with the EU and a referendum?
The ‘transfer’ (handouts) of EU funds and wealth from the existing members,as the EEC stood when we joined it,to the ‘new entry’ east european states that Russia was supporting financially before we were mug enough to start supporting them all instead. No guesses as to which country is one of the largest net contributors to those funds.
Effectively we pay taxes in the form of VAT etc to improve the economies of eastern europe and to put ourselves out of work in the form of cheap labour to make a few employers richer.
For once I have to agree with you except on the issue of ‘Russia subsidising them’ for what I saw of the old eastern block was that they lived in hovels and had nothing, and on the border watch towers the machine guns were pointing in and not towards the west.
Out and without any doubt

OUT please and asap. Also all aid payments to stop untill our own country is sorted out along with extra border forces and a visa system put in place, no visa your not coming in, holidays, work etc dont care dont want anymore of them. Also now Im on a role all benefits to single mothers under the age of 25 to be stopped let there families keep them. No benefits to anyone who hasnt paid into the system for 5 years more. Im fed up with paying out on spongers stop all these payments and lets see how many stay and still want to come here, France will love us for it.
Couldn’t have put it better myself

This seems to confirm what I saw and was told by the locals at least in the old Yugoslavia during the 1980’s (the Russians were net subsidisers of the Eastern Bloc from at least1970).Without cheap Russian fuel and economic ‘aid’ the Eastern Bloc economies would have been zb’d just as would have been the case now if it wasn’t for the EU subsidising them all instead of Russia. No surprise that Russia is now richer without them while we get poorer.

Don’t remember any machine guns on the Yugoslav borders either.Loads of fuel stations flogging cheap Russian petrol to British and German tourists driving in and out of there definitely.

No way just knock the whole thing on the head. It’s possible to get a much better deal than that zb idea of 5 years payments before eligibility by taking out private cover. While the idea of 5 years before eligibility just means that someone who gets made redundant with 4 years service gets nothing having paid in to help subsidise someone else who gets made redundant with 5 + years service.
If we’re going to have a self preservation society then do the job properly with a system in which everyone has to look after themselves. The question is will the guvnors be prepared to pay the required wages for that type of system
