your not even joined to Europe…
Does a tunnel count ?
It goes against the trend of bridges that connect say Denmark and Sweden to mainline Europe
Perhaps its more that the UK is not joined to the EU in sprit, it does not have a euro vibe as such.

The less involvement with Brussels the better. RIP Great Britain
i agree to an extent. the eu was a good idea at first. but i think they have gone too far.
making agreements for free trade, agreeing fuel prices and road funding is one thing. but telling everyone from greace to the shetlands to act in the same way, do this, do that, is quite another.
they seem to come up with all kinds of legislation that no one wants to justify their existence.
The EU is an empire, and all empires collapse eventually - what a mess that’ll be
i think limeyphil has a good point but needs to do his homework as we pay roadtax in spain.
my car tax is more here than it would be in the uk and it goes straight to the local government so it gets used on local projects not duck houses or moat cleaning.
my truck tax is quite considerable as well and i pay for peages in spain and france so whats the point of even more tax?
is it just another bash the foreigner idea?
the only way to equalise everything is all hauliers pay the same for fuel in all EU countries and stop all cabotage so trucks from a certain country can reload only for their country and not run around for weeks on end never going home and undercutting the rest of us
Weither people like it or not in the future we will have
throughout the EU Road charges in every country, and the main ones to profit will be the System that can cope with all the various country’s method of collecting the road charges ,Why do you think the Germans built the system to be able to multi-task, so that only I unit is required for all country’s, and it does work, eficently.

you pay road tax and pay tolls, that’s totally wrong in my view.
my idea is to get rid of tolls throughout europe, one way or another.
only that way can we have equal trade throughout europe.
if we do end up paying per km, like some people have suggested, then it needs to be the same price per km in the uk and every other eu country.
@limeyphil, You are suggesting some thing that is a impossibility
no country is going to allow the EU to set a road charge limit
that is the same in each country, sorry but that is a dream,
i know it’s a dream.
we can only dream about sensible EU policies.
Germany makes the rules, the UK abides by the rules, France bends the rules, Italy breaks the rules, Spain and Greece don’t know the rules.

still think a safer system would be all trucks get fuel cards which are all invoiced at the same price regardless of where you filled up so uk trucks could buy fuel in the uk at the same price as we can buy fuel in spain and vice versa.
and stop slovaks loading spain to the uk for silly money then reloading uk for spain and never going home hence never having safety inspections or taking proper breaks at home. if you have uk truck load from uk to somewhere then reload for home and equal system for all other europeans.
my boss only looks for work back to spain when we tip thats where we live and thats where we are based end of story
