Now the dust has settled what do you think of Southgates decisions?
I thought we gifted the initiative to Italy. They kept their intensity levels up with their substitutions, whilst we seemed to want to drag it out for penalties. Game could of went either way, but Italy pushed their luck with fouls on Grealish and Saka, that should of been at least one red card.
Kane and Maguire took their penalties simply and well, the others with their staggered runs just telegraphed their intentions to that giant Italian keeper.
I think if we ever get in the same position again, throw caution to the wind and try to outplay them. The players are there. Younger ones will be wiser, although I wonder if they wonder whether the more experienced players should of been taking those first five penalties?
It all seems a long time ago now, 
I was out with a few mates the other day, they all said the same thing.
Gareth did not adapt to Italy’s tactics and playing style in the second half, he played the same system right through, Kane played far too ■■■■ deep, he hardly got a touch in the box, and certainly did not get a cross in.
All that talent sat on the bench that could have been used 
, …Gareth’s luck and sticking to his guns just ran out that night…
As far as football goes now, I’ve only got (yet) another season of mediocrity to look forward to at Newcastle

all due respect rob/janos but they could’nt beat us over 120 mins and it came to the dreaded pens , now gareths plan worked all the way to the final so why change it… and gareth is ex villa so i find it hard to defend him but i’d like to see him in the job for a few years…
anyhow i am looking forward to the world cup and a continuation of this new england with all this youth we have and progressing… 
p.s rob, unlike you i’m looking forward to our season under bowyer,made some decent additions already…K.R.O

I agree and I said the same in my previous post, …they couldn’t beat us.
I still think that when he saw the stalemate situation at 1 1,.and with all the talent on the bench, he could have went for it after the rest period in extra time.
England would never have scored playing that system against Italy if they played another 90 mins, let alone 30.
Choice of going for it or laying back for penalties with our penalty shoot out record?
Change the 5 at the back system and open up the midfield for a more attacking role, but wtf do I know eh?
