I still can’t get my head around this.If Spain sell us a trailer of oranges and we sell them a trailer of … i’m struggling to think what we send there now … a trailet of cloth why do we need Brussels to tell us how to live with endless ridiculous laws. We keep being told what a great deal we get just by being part of the EU but has anyone ever sat down and done the sums.If you add all the billions we pay in and all the immigration we have to put up with including the strain on the NHS wouldnt it be cheaper to buy the Oranges from the USA. We are being bullied into staying in .

Well, instead of asking, why don’t you do the sums yourself? You’ve got the resources of Google at your fingertips.
All trade between the UK and the EU is tariff-free. Start from there.

Because I aint clever enough but you seem to know lots about lots so maybe you could explain why you would back a corrupt organisation that want to take away all our power and control everything we do ,impose ridiculous laws on us and tell us how many immigrants we will be receiving while at the same time relieving us of large amounts of tax payers money. Its quite obvious why the MPs want it because they like the idea of £100000 a year for doing absolutely nothing when they eventually jump on the gravy train.
UK and EU tariff free■■? so what do we get for the billions we put in . We are paying to trade with countrys we could trade with without the laws and without the donations

Here, hear Ramone to the above, this dexxy57 chap has just surfaced recently and seems to know all the answers maybe it’s that chap from Leatherhead in a new guise.
On another note that Junker mush has refused TM a short extension to Brexit but will grant a long extension the greedy little bar steward, they need us in for one reason and that is to extract our cash in humungous amounts and rule us with an iron fist and don’t you think they wont be coming forward on that one, if we stay in we wont know what hit us and it will be like losing WW3 and all that was given in WW2 will have been for nothing, lest we forget Buzzer

Well, that’s an admission, if you think you aren’t clever enough why are you blasting somebody who maybe is? But to answer your question, the organisation you speak of is not corrupt, it has its faults like any country or group of countries, it does not impose ridiculous laws, its laws are debated in a freely elected parliament which many people in the UK can’t be bothered to vote for, and it doesn’t impose immigrants on the country. Apart that is for the European ones who enter under the freedom of movement rules that the UK, like all the others, agreed to.

So that’s why I back it and I suspect that the same goes for Dexxy.

BTW Dexxy, a belated welcome to the forum, your posts are bringing some much needed light to this discussion.

Agree with only one point in your post and that is immigrants want to come to the UK because we are stupid and give them somewhere to live and massive handouts no questions asked while some more deserving citizens of ours go without, we should give them nothing then then they would not try and invade our shores, btw does France house them and give them 300 ero’s a week to help each and every one of them out, cant imagine what the French reactions to that would be, Buzzer.

Well you being the clever ones maybe can explain how the club we are in lets us trade with other countries in the club free of charge but the membership goes into the billions , the ridiculous laws we have enforced on us are not open to negotiation here we have to stick by them and the people we elected ■■? Kinnock and co are the ones who agreed to them ? The German cow who flooded Germany with immigrants from outside the EU with devastating effects in her own country told us we had to take our quota. Wonder if she is aware that TM & JC are going to combine in giving her country away, well at least if they do we wont have any need for the Royal family anymore so the money they get every year can go towards the National Health and we can sell buck palace and all the other homes they have between them, food for thought Buzzer.

Bearing in mind Liz and Phils self congratulatory celebrations of Heath’s signing us up to the European Communities Act,let alone her giving royal assent to it,all while deliberately hiding FCO 30/1048 from the country, can only say ‘’ of course she is bleedin aware’’ because she actually supports the whole scam. Not least because of the obvious implications if she now rescinds that assent all on the grounds that your Conservative mates Heath and Maggie among others gave away the country from 1972 to date and she’s going to have to face some very inconvenient questions,if she now chooses to reverse her original actions of going along with Heath’s treason,by signing assent to proper Brexit all to get back the resulting lost sovereignty.

Who would have thought it a union of the Sax Coburg and Schleswick Holstein dynasties eventually resulted in the country being sold out to German interests. With a lot of help from the stinking Conservative Party.Remind us which party you voted for in all previous elections then have the nerve to blame the Labour Party for it all.In which case don’t remember many/any Conservative MP’s supporting Benn,Shore and Heffer in 1975 or as genuine as Kate Hoey now. :unamused:

Non of that is true either, and as to immigrants coming to Calais through France, very few of them enter the EU at French ports which means that the first point of entry is somewhere else. Then, due to Schengen (which you will have to agree to if Buzzer’s 5 year plan of re-entry ever happens), they can travel where they like until stopped at Calais. And many are, though many get through. It is called people smuggling and there are clever criminals who get them through, and btw, will still get them through to the UK, whether it is in or out of the EU.

Cheers Spardo, but actually I’ve been on this forum for about 5 years now. Changed my email address then found I couldn’t log in any more so had to change my user name and start again. So that’s why it looks as if I’m a newcomer.
I like this site, I’ve found it really helpful over the years. There’s some really good advice on here concerning the day to day drudgery that is driving. The humour and the ‘just get on with it’ attitude helps put the job in context.
I’ve rarely posted on here over the years though. I’ve been driving for nearly 40 years, but in all that time nothing exciting (by the forum’s standard) has happened really. I’ve just browsed through the topics, picked up a bit of advice and generally agreed with the comments.

The Brexit thing is different. It’s staggering to see the level of ignorance displayed on here about us leaving the EU.
There was a vote, and, fair enough, there was a result. Can’t argue with that. The People had their say, and they said it.

What’s come to light since the vote are the consequences of us leaving, and (it’s only an opinion) the consequences are not going to be good. But, hey-ho, it’s only an opinion. Some people on here don’t seem to like my opinion, and again that’s fair enough. Some utter nut job religious lunatics (no names, but don’t mention the 4th Reich) seem particularly upset by my opinion. FFS it’s just an opinion.
I don’t think some people ‘get’ the idea of a debate. It’s not war, it’s not a square go, it’s just expressing and discussing different opinions and, living in a free country, as we do, everyone has the right of reply.

Hey Spardo, just noticed you used to live in Nottingham. I was in the Bestwood Estate in Arnold for a couple of years. It had a bad reputation for drugs, violence, general scummy behaviour etc. I only learned that when I moved on. It was news to me. Had no problems whatsoever while I was there. Great place Nottingham.

We give 300 Euros a week to everyone who enters the UK? Really?
Evidence please and I’ll share your outrage Otherwise GTF.

Small world, Dexxy, I lived in Bramcote from 1950 then came back to the area after touring the world and living in OZ to get married and settle down in Beeston and then Chilwell. I think I missed all the fun you mentioned in Bestwood too though.

Another coincidence is your history with this forum. If you look at my signature line it says I joined in 2004. Not true, I was here long before that with another name but one day I couldn’t log on. To get back from this bit of drift, I agree with all you say about this thread. Until you arrived there was only Franglais and I of the same opinion with one or two others dipping in from time to time. Whatever I think about the majority’s opinion here we have tried to be reasonable in putting our case, but many of the replies ignore logic and seem to prefer hatred and conflict instead.

Spardo by your own admission you say until dexxy arrived there was only you and franglaise of the same opinion plus a few others, surely that must tell you something about the general feeling on Brexit. No, it tells me something about how many are prepared to put up with the ignorance in this thread. I have had PMs/emails from members of this forum who have approved of our views but simply do not want to join in because of the aggro.

All it tells me is the general feeling on this forum about Brexit. There was a poll at the start of this thread showing 80-20 in favour of Leave.
That’s fair enough. The split across the country as a whole was more 50-50.
But, we’ve had our say and Leave won. No arguments there.
The utter shambles that is the Tory party have ■■■■■■ up the negotiations so badly it’s embarrassing. They do NOT have the best interests of the country in mind, they are only interested in their own party.
After nearly 3 years of negotiations they’ve run out of ideas and are turning to Labour for help. Desperate stuff.
We live in a democracy, and that should be respected. I voted Remain, but respect the vote. The electorate spoke and Cameron’s government said ‘What? Leave won? That wasn’t supposed to happen!’
Rather than deal with it Cameron ■■■■■■ off and left his colleagues to clear up the mess he left them. They have been running around like headless chickens for nearly 3 years now. I despair, as do most of the country.
