Eu referendum whats your vote

I’ve had a on/off interest in the politics of the day since the 60s and vividly remember watching Harold Wilson on BBC News, aye in black and white make the famous/infamous quote on devaluing the pound “It does not mean that the pound here in Britain, in your pocket or ■■■■■ or in your bank, has been devalued.” Ever since then I’ve had a devout scepticism of what politicians have to to say tho’ some predictions(Enoch Powell) havn’t been far out. For me this in/out referendum has focucussed my attention again with in particular a speech such as this youtube.com/watch?v=GbJp8zxduWk
A United Kingdom for me and away from the ever increasing shackle of an unknown(to us), unelected out of control, unaudited bureaucracy in Brussels, Mr Farage says it all for me.
Oily

Oily how right you are, Nigel Farage may be a lot of things but he gets the truth out, trouble is too many people in this country are concerned about there daily struggle to know or even have any interest in the EU, well they should change there ways. Its probably shutting the stable door syndrome already but we have lost control Britain and we definitely need to try and rectify this, out is the only way and watch the others follow if we do achieve that.
We don’t need Turkey joining as 10% of there population believe ISIS is the right way to go, too close to Asia and all that brings, no, no, no, please don’t let Merkel inflict that on us as well, Buzzer.

Unless there’s been a massive tectonic shift Turkey is a part of Asia.

Personally I think that if we leave he’ll rightly get a place in history as the leader who saved this country and maybe Europe from a Socialist/Federalist nightmare.Or if we stay as the leader who tried to save the country, from the point of view of future generations facing a possibly inevitable war of secession to get themselves out. :bulb:

Same as Enoch Powel then CF, he had it right all those years ago and no one listened to him.

I wish there was a like button here Buzzer.

Not living in the UK & not a British citizen, i have little to say here, but I’m intrigued as to what the outcome will be.

I had an English friend stay with me last weekend & he wants out. Fair play i guess…

Greetings Gentlemen All.
That speech by Nigel Farage made me want to cheer. What he said was exactly right and the faces on Herr Merkel and her neighbour said it all.Hopefully,he will be the man who saved Great Britain.I hope his speech reach everyone in the land.VOTE OUT!

Evening all,

I have hesitated to pass comment on this subject for several reasons, my own feelings from my heart, my own feelings from my head, my own feelings dictated by my emotions.

From my Heart…out of this utterly corrupt organisation,…rebuild our country, its industry, its society…re-group…go forward…just show the world just how sceptred is this island and its people, (from wherever we have come)!..Its a brave new World, sacrifices will have to be made, and courageous decisions taken, everyone must pull together…there is another World out there, free from the subjucated " snivelling membership" of a club that has so mortally wounded our moral fibre, and national strength.

From my head…There is no plan B, (and in all business, your success depends on a measured evaluation of plan B)…the rethinking of strategy if the unforseen happens, "just what do we do…where do we go?..HM Government has chosen for whatever reason to ignore the option of even thinking about plan B…By now, the politicians talking about leaving should have…

Some real time initial negotiation with future trading partners…(forget the USA…she only loves the God Almighty Dollar…look at the history…particularly in relation to Lend Lease…(the key is the second word…and did we not just pay for it)!

Where will we trade, and with whom, and why are we not speaking, and gauging quietly how these other partners would trade with us? Just remember we in the UK lost our Carpet, and Ceramic industries to Belgium, and France, and their "manipulation " of EU rules…and what of Steel…look up the relative regulation in Germany, France, and Italy regarding industrial emissions, enviromental taxes, and what we term business rates…makes horrific reading to any business man, …appears that our politicians, (domestic, and EU, and of all parties, are incapable of understanding just how they have been “eased” in certain cases…if they had…the press would be screaming about it…(well perhaps no…given the mediocre individuals involved)!!!

Real economic projection of the nett effect on the economy of GB if we vote to go…not woolley “perhaps”, well possibly", “maybe”…for goodness sake we have the Worlds leading financial institutions based here, and some of the best economic brains in the world in our Universities…are they all “FRIT”…or gagged?..the answers, (and some are unpalatable) are there…let them out into the debate…

Our infrastructure, (in a major part), is now in the main owned and controlled by non Uk controlled company`s, Water, Electricity,Transport, (Rail, and Road)…look into it, you may be surprised…but when the future development of a Nuclear Power Station rests on a vote of the French Government, to allow its State Controlled subsidiary to pass funding for the project, (Hinckley Point), where on earth have we as a people allowed our country to go…

Have the “outers” considered these points, and their effect…I suspect no!..Because if they had , then they would have, (and should have), a strategy to put forward to the population…“did you know?..this is what we will do”…

Look at Steel…and the fiasco…(and it has to be said partially the fault of the EU, but primarily a fiasco based in the UK , the Unions, the Governments, (of either hue)…and now the jolly old Indians own both the rump of the industrial core Steel, and the prime motor car manufacturer…Jaguar Land Rover …I wonder why they have a potential manufacturing base in Slovenia?..Did any of the politicians realise the significance of this move when it took place?..I doubt it!

London is now the home of all of the major Suisse Banks…and Financial Services are (post Thatcher), our UK core industry…Wonder why they are all buying options on office space in Paris, Dublin, Frankfurt?..Wake up politicians…you are choosing to ignore the unpalatable option of plan B…but so many normal people are turned away from the “warm fuzz” option of staying in a corrupt, but easy to live within EU Socialist, (although in 16 states the right wing is in its ascendancy), club…rather than face the harsh reality of “cold prickle land”…but remember just how great the Spring can be following those late Frosty days!!!

We vote out, (even by the slimmest margin), then out we are, and mitigation of the consequence, (and it will be a bitter consequence)…because there are others within the EU as it stands who would wish to be out…and would follow us…is vital…Yet I see no effort from any of the creaking political system that we have to lead the Nation forward into a new world…

AND THAT WOULD BE THE END OF A FEDERAL EUROPE…make no bones about it…and the UK would feel the wrath of the failed society…led by Europes current “lame dog” France…and just who would be the next to go?..

My emotional feelings…we stay in, that is the end of the society that perhaps we older ones remember,…we come out, and many that wish to remain in the comfortable, individual non accountable society, will hate with a vengeance those of us who vote out…

Why?

Because our educational system has failed them, they cannot stand upon their own feet…let alone analyse anything other than the Premier Football League, the price of Mc Donalds offal, or the social hand out that is their entitlement…

They do not realise that our fair legal system…“innocent untill proven guilty”, is replaced by Europes “guilty untill proven innocent”, on a daily basis, 62 legal laws that have come from Europe…and only strictly enforced in these Islands…

That there is a World out there that would welcome us once more as the people who are fair, who are democratic, and who stand up to our responsibilities!..

I only wish the population had the courage to grasp that opportunity

We will soon know.

Wonder if my Bollinger will have a massive tax hike if we come out…

Bugger it, worth paying such a tax…

Cheerio for now.

The fact is at worse we’ve got nothing to lose. The Germans won’t want to suddenly stop dealing with their biggest European customer and export market. While we actually need to cut our import bill and trade deficit with the EU and the world or we end up like Greece.

While if we let Merkel get her way Europe will eventually be a Eurasian basket case.Assuming it doesn’t end up in a war of secession and federalist aggression as Federations often/usually do, first.IE it’s time to sink or swim with France probably being next to leave if we go and with it the end of Merkel’s nightmare. In which EFTA then by default becomes the new legitimate European bloc which it always should have been, not Monnet’s and now Merkel’s hellish Socialist/Federalist vision. :bulb:

Saviem a very interesting overall view of the EU situation from you, I wondered if you were going to comment on this debacle especially as in your life time you have seen first hand how France and her bordering countries work.
The trouble in this country ordinary folk are to wrapped up in there everyday existence and either don’t care or take notice of what is happening around them and certainly not of what happens if we stay IN or come OUT of the EU.
As you stated the laws enforced on us by unelected personal within the Brussel conglomerate are to the last detail carried out here but not so in many cases for our brothers within the EU. level playing field it is not, we are not even playing the same game.
Lately on television when interviews are carried out some say they have not made there mind up which way they may vote as if it were just a trivial matter, if however the full impact of the decision of what OUT or IN means were broadcast in a program with persons with no financial or political agenda or bias perhaps more would understand the full importance of this vote, that sufficing it will not be rigged as I have my doubts on that subject.
Still being involved in International transport which is becoming a bit of a rare thing nowadays in the British transport industry, most work has gone to operators from within the EU all part of the not so level playing field. This is not sour grapes but it is frustrating when only have about 10% of traffic leaving these shores are on British trucks.
We have to abide by there weekend and holiday restrictions or suffer heavy penalties while they can come over here and drive at will seven days a week and with no tolls and a miniscule entry fee to roam our roads.
When and if God willing we vote too come OUT of the EU I may even join you and celebrate with a bottle of your beloved Bollinger, and if the vote is to stay within this corrupt organisation I will drown my sorrows with the same (no signed of accounts for 22 years) imagine that happening over here, I will take solace in the fact I am an OAP now so wont have to suffer being directed by these morons in Brussels for too much longer anyways and may even see the whole thing go bang weather we are IN or OUT and I will rejoice, Buzzer.

On that note it could get interesting if Merkel says let Turkey in and East Euro says no Merkel then says yes or else and then the East Euros go back into full on slavic nationalist v German Federalist mode. Then the FN finally win out in France. With Osborne as PM here trying act as mediator. That’s when the Russians kick off in support of the Balkans against Germany and Turkey and Osborne sends what’s left of our armed forces to support ze Germans on a front stretching from the Baltic to the Middle East. While France declares support for Russia. :smiling_imp:

Anyone else noticed how quiet the media has suddenly become on all things to do with immigration? No more mention from any of the news outlets or TV stations of “The Jungle”. Nothing more about the hoards of “refugees” fighting the police at various EE borders to force their way in. Nothing more about the Tsunami of free loaders crossing the Med from North Africa or washing up on the beaches of Greece. Especially nothing more of the disgusting ■■■■■■ assaults being carried out in the Refugee Centres by those who have managed to get through.
Anybody would think the “media” has been got at!!

I certainly have to agree with what you have stated,my paper spends more pages and comment about Victoria Beckham than important details re in or out.By the way i am for OUT///Keep up the good work.

Well all you ‘outers’ can rest easy now as Nigel Lafarge (or whatever!) told us on this mornings news that we WILL be leaving the EU so job done. :unamused:

Pete.

Well if nothing else persuades you how about £110 million a year to Spain to maintain Bull fighting, that should be enough to sway any one to vote out, Buzzer.

Out let’s get control again

As an expat living in DK I’m voting out and reckon very soon after many of my countrymen will be wanting the same! We’re all sick of it, corrupt pocket lining zb’ see! Total bloody shambles esp our transport industry. Roll on 23rd!
