Can well believe it

Stobrats ■■?

Good story though

No paperwork with the trailer/loads?

EU bods … ‘nor speakeeee or readieeeee englaseeeeeeee, comprendi’ :unamused:

Or some years ago, agency bod hitches up tank trailer, to trunk from Frome to London. Calls office hour and half later, asking if he has the right trailer, as it “went up the hill by Amesbury (A303) without slowing down?”
Yep, took him that long to realize he hooked up an empty trailer… :unamused:

Or an other agency bod, from East European origin, Who was instructed to take a trailer fron Frome to Wrexham, tip the milk, then drive to Ashby, drop trailer on loading bay, taking your 9 hour brake whilst the trailer was CIP’d and loaded with cream. Then drive back to Westbury to tip cream, CIP and back to Frome.

He rings up in the morning, with a question about Westbury. Planner asks him where he is. Michealwood services he says.

Hang on, how did you manage that? You’re supposed to be loading in Ashby!!

Oh, I have. The cream was already loaded in another trailer, so I swapped trailers and carried on back…

Turned out he had nearly 23 hours duty time on his tacho… :open_mouth:

I would say stobarts. They send drivers from bellshill down to carnforth everyday. And normally a balls up and its always agency that do that simply run.

Get on :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

Happened a few times when Somerfield used to do trailer swaps at j42 m6 with scotch drivers. Empty cages up, empty cages back.

This stories sound…how the f**k someone drives, swaps trailer without checking paperwork and actual trailer, what about load locks :unamused: :unamused: I guess for drivers like this pre/post trip inspection is unheard of :imp:

P.S. If I have done this mistake in the States on my last place of employment, all of the expenses would have come from my pocket. And this means a lot of money, since we shipped via train auto part from Illinois to California and Canada.

Utter ■■■■■■■■. Heard exact same story years ago and several times in between. :unamused:

So its most likely to be a load of bollox then especially given that that particular story and variations of it about agency drivers has been doing the rounds for at least 20 years I’m aware. That as well as the one about agency drivers hitching up to empty trailers. The only difference is that nowadays racist idiots say its Polish or whatever the target of the day is.

On the other hand this morning I read a post written by someone who claims to be english who was having a laugh at some foreigners but whose post couldn’t possibly have been written by someone who has english as a first language given that they can’t even spell simple four letter words properly. And that is totally true.

Given that the other contributor of “Eastern European agency drivers” stories in this thread also seems to have a problem with basic levels of english it is almost like the often made claim that racists are idiots is true.

Did the driver get fined £50 per wind of the landing legs atvthe visa checkpoint too?

A few months back i was told to pick up trailer ■■ from the MOT tester as it was done, rocked up, saw our trailer, didn’t check the trailer number and took that one. It was the wrong one and was there for its MOT the next day and the other was still in the shop it seemed. They only found out what i did when they phoned the MOT place to ask about the status of the trailer i took and the tester said it never got dropped off but we still have the test fee to pay.

Im a fulll time British driver by the way.

Time and a half after 8hr?

Yes lads Totall ■■■■■■■■ the eX hgv driver who is now on transport debrief due to war wounds from the falklands has also been saying that he was in the army and had his training in Hereford! also he’s been in nearly every war conflict since the 1980s. And used to do middle east runs in the 1980s…■■■■ had me going there for a bit with the trailer swop story.i must be getting guilible in my old age!

Place I used to do trunks from Glasgow to Liverpool used agency for them. I came in one night and the TM told me that the night before he had said to the (British) agency driver, “theres your keys, your bringing this trailer back up”. So the guy took off. Three hours later the TM left to go home and noticed an empty trailer still sitting in the bay. He called the agency guy and asked him what trailer he had taken as it must have been a loaded one. Turns out it wasn’t as he hadn’t taken a trailer! He was about 120 miles and way down past the border bobtail! Because he had been given a trailer to bring back up but not one to take down he just took off without one!

That’s crazy, even I understand enough English to know, that if the TM tell’s you: “you are bringing this trailer back”, you have to take it out first, in order to bring it back later. How the hell will you take it back if you don’t take it with you at first.
“Something must be wrong with British English, its not the drivers fault”.
Do like the Americans, wright everything, step by step, this way even idiot will know what to do. :grimacing:
