Oxo,was it Ellesmere that had a length restriction in the town, maybe 12 metres,in the 80s?

Chris, Never noticed any signs anywere, but ellesmere was always a challenge to go thru the town and still is. There is no need to go thru town now as roads have changed and the unigate dairies in the town closed in the eighties, It is now for tourists(Shropshires lake distict)

Ellesmere carnival, Driver was Doug Plumley of Wem (RIP)

if you worked for ETC in the sixties do you remember the AEC with a Leyland V8 in it and was there two of them. my father, Peter Millington from Tybroughton, Whitchurch. bought one about the same time and it used to grieve him that he had to pay for his but ETC had theirs for free for evaluation.

Dessert Driver, Yes I remember, There were two V8s came the same time Eric Davies from Whitchurch drove one and the other was driven by Norman Logsdale and had his name on doors but dont know who owned that one as Norman was timber falling for Etc at the time. I can remember there was lots of problems with the one Etc had and i think it was water problems. I went out one day with 760 mandator MNT101F and that V8 passed me on pull as if i was standing, Good times.Have you still got any Scania 140s left,as i Drove the 140 in the seventies for Hurdsman ONT445M and what a machine then. Have you a photo of your AEC V8 to post would like to see.

sorry no photos the V8 was only 12 months old when my father was working out of Minera Quarry when he got pushed of the road just out side Coedpoeth by another haulier and wrote it of. it was a flyer AEC reckand it would do 100mph but very unreliabe, two nights a week in AECs at St Helins not engine problems but everything else not up to it.because of its power and speed he was doing four loads a day to Bootle from Minera where every one else was only doing three and a little jealousy set in.my brother "The Heavy Mob "may have some pics as he still lives at the family home.no Scania V8s left at home but i now drive a 144/530 lowloader for G Mayer plant hire. V8s in the blood.

hi oxo
The day I was seventeen I was on the road with a Bedford TK and Jonney Williams gave me one of my first loads. What happend to him, is he still with us. Am I right in thinking Lloyd Watson RIP and Keith Dimilow both from Bronnington worked for ETC?
By the way you asked previusly if there were any 140s left at home, well my brother has just brought a 141. See Wanted any Info for Scania 141 on “old time lorries”.

Regards Keith

Dessert driver, Johnny Williams passed away a good few yrs back Aged 59 . I knew lloyd Watson very well as he used to do some loads for me out of Etc Sawmills, But i can never remember them working at Etc, but they most probably did. I did take a brand new TK L reg to Elles carnival in 1972, Johnny bought three 7.5 tonners at the same time. I will try and find photos of them, but they will be in Hurdsmans colours as he took over the transport. Can you remember Johnny starting a company called Salop Roadways based in St Martins Which was partnered with Brian Shuker and did not get on,did not last long. I will ask Bill Jones there old transport manager as he any photos,if so i will post them.

I knew Lloyd Watson well from his days as a subbie for BRS on the Continental Can work out of Wrexham,
sadly missed a true gent RIP Lloyd.

Used to see his FH (P2 LFW) about after Timms bought it off him, are they still going as i`ve not seen any for a long time

Hi
Lloyd brought Boundary garage off Mike Timms a few years ago. Since Lloyd died his son Ian has taken over and has just down sized a little and now runs just two, one with a driver and one for himself.
I do not know if you attended the funeral as I think every Haulier for miles was represented. It was the most emotional service I have ever been to. Good look to Ian and Lloyds wife Loraine He was every ones mate May he rest in peace

Regards Keith.
