I’ve not been on the forum for a while as I kind of lost interest in the never ending search for work as a new driver and decided to concentrate on taxi’ing for a while, then today I had a thought 
Do heavy haulage/plant firms employ dedicated ■■■■■■ vehicle drivers, or are they manned by HGV drivers that don’t have a run?
There are quite a few such firms around the area and I thought it might be a good way to get a foot in the door so to speak!
some companies have their own ■■■■■■ vehicles and some hire in private ■■■■■■ firms as far as im aware.
I looked into this about 2 years ago and it seems that there are now dedicated wide/large load ■■■■■■ companies that do most of the escorting.
The work is very ‘as needed’ and they use mainly ‘on call’ car drivers which surprised me as I would have thought that some sort of large vehicle knowledge would be an advantage.
Thanks for the replies. Not really worth pursuing i suppose. I’m giving it until Easter time then starting back on the hunt!
