Eric armitt biddulph

does any one remember eric armitt from biddulph  ,he used to run tippers, the last time i saw any of there motors they were loading at the salt mine at winsford twenty odd years ago,any one worked for them

Think i remember them, were they brown and orange.
There was a couple of firms that i remember that were all either the same livery or slightly different, brown and orange.
Steve Crow - Yoxhall Transport and Armitts, i can recall seeing Daf 3300s, Fodens and later on Ivecos, all smart motors, tankers and tippers.
All from the same area too. :open_mouth: ?

Didnt he have a Seddon Atki 401 or 411 with a high roof fitted, think the roof came from a bin wagon… it was in one of the Truck mag’s years ago

Eric was my 2nd cousin - I remember his yard was next door to Haydon’s in Wharf Rd - it was lower down, over a high wall (I’m also related to the Haydons). I think he ran ERFs in the 70s but when I was up in Beddle in 1993 his yard had moved further up Wharf Rd, past the council yard on the left, heading towards the Tin Bridge.

Every year he’d put on a big do for his drivers and wives etc. I went in Jan 1994 - he took me & my uncle to the Stoke City match (where he was a VP) and then to a big hotel - Rudyard Lake I think - big steak and lots of ‘lotion’ was supped - had a great time but there were some thick heads in the morning.

Eric passed away in 2002 aged 67 - sadly missed
