dieseldog999:
im not interested in it at all other than it looks a bit of a gruntmobile and possibly of interest to those that are into erf…nothing more than that.
Ah right I got you. Ones I drove were not 525s (Christian Salvesen) - the ones I did drive like grunt mobiles in way they acted - tractor sounding exhaust, cab rocking under straining loads, can’t remember if they pulled any worse than contemporaries of the time. They certainly behaved very uniquely. I suspect on a dyno would be a story…
if i was an o/d and hands on,id be buying that, spend a few quid making it mint, and belt on with it.mabey for £10k you would have a good useable tool that you could have a bit of pride in,instead of some newish electronic run of the mill nightmare financed up to the teeth.
it might be a bit of a shagheap to todays standards, but at least the plus side would be its a fixable thing without dealer repairs.
the downside would be,that you would never get any peace when parked up as there would always be someone at the door interrogating you about it.
i had an old 143 450 years ago,ex stuart taylor, and all full tang spec, stacks, and a aftermarket high roof…looked a bit of a beast,no matter where i stopped, there was always someone coming over to ask about it…ive no love for anything built in britain, but i can see how that old thing bulled up would be a proper job for the right man.
Agree there dieseldog999. Wish l had the money to buy it and go O/D. 2nd truck l ever drove was an E14 325 eaton twin splitter. Great gearbox once you got the hang of it. Not particularly good going up hill but boy could it fly on the flat, lol.
Definitely tang and the paint job being as it is won’t be an issue because I’m sure whoever gets it will have something in mind. Thick end of a million miles on it though however considering it has been parked up for 5 years but they still MOT’d it suggests its a company which doesn’t skimp on the maintenance.

Sorry to ask, what does tang style mean ?
it basically means old school, irish hooligan spec…look it up on youtube and theres interpretation videos,as well as the links to it on trucknet.
or…when paddy from the donegal mafia takes your elbows off when your on the limiter and he goes past in the full spec gruntmobile,he will most likely be full or part tang…
dd I think youd find that with a good service and check over she would put any “standard” R500 to shame. Have to admit I have a bit of a soft spot for the 525 ■■■■■■■ in a plastic pig . Remember the outfit from round Derry / Strabane who used to have 2 of the older EC’s drawing fuel from belfast to Donegal - they barely slowed up the M2 out of Belfast and the Glenshane .
Proper animals that would bring a smile to any tangs face
they just dont look right with a gold chain, ben sherman shirt,a pair of super hamptons, and a scania jacket…its like having a plate of mince with chips,or a roast beef dinner with pasta…does the job but dont feel right…
