Equal opportunities form..or not?

So have an application form hear from a company based in N. Ireland whos name I will not mention
on the bottom of the form it quotes-

Please indicate which community you belong to by ticking the boxes below:
Protestant - Roman Catholic - Neither Protestant nor R.Catholic

And should it really matter what you are so long as your going to do the work
Are some companies still stuck in 30 years of blood shed
will it make a difference which box I tick to getting the job

I think most big employers ask similar questions, maybe not about Catholic/protestant but certainly which ethnic group, religion or ■■■■■■ persuasion.
This is usually an additional form and not on the same form so this information is separated from your application. It’s all about gathering statistics for government.

It’s also usually optional…

More religious BS again! WTF does it matter what frigging religion you are, you’re (I imagine) driving a lorry ffs. Just tell em you’re a satanist and let em deal with it :smiling_imp:

If there was no discrimination for a truck driving job when the requirements are that you must hold relevant driving license then they wouldn’t ask date of birth or gender, let alone anything else at all, none of the companies business what you do in your own time - within reason of course …

Want a job with the council? When being interviewed just say “You do not discriminate against gay men do you?” Jobs yours. Crap scared of any lawsuit.

If you say you’re a satanist to the wrong body of people, you might have a fatwa put upon you. If you
don’t pipe up on the other hand, you might end up with just a fatwun sharing your cab - which is probably worse. :smiling_imp:

It’s part of the good friday agreement. There was a time that many companies in Northern Ireland would only employ people that belonged to a particular religious group. Some still do, But thankfully that era is pretty much in the past.
