I can’t help you with that ROG, but I think I know a man who can…
He’s called Repton, and this is his forum, so I guess you’ll be hearing from him.
I have a C48 and the only thing it needs is ink on a very regular basis. I got it free with a laptop so I think next time I need ink I will buy a cheap laser printer instead.
I hardly think they are worth repairing judging by the big heap of printers at our local tip

I had an earlier version and scrapped it cos no-one knew how to get past the maintainence thing

Er, that’ll be me then I think!
I don’t know the answer to the original question though, never mind. In my experience the only thing you can change in most inkjets it the ink cartridges, an so if it’s that then replace them, anything else bin it and buy a new printer as they only cost a few tens of quid these days.

I think they work on the same principle as Gillette.
When your missus buys you a new razor with a couple of blades for a quid then you have to pay a tenner for replacements.

Thanks Paul - I think this is some scam by EPSON
It’s not quite a scam but close. I take it your getting a message
like Maintenance Error Request.
The cause of this is the waste ink pad is needing replaced. This
piece of cotton absorbs all the waste ink from running the print head
clean options and all the waste ink from inserting a new cartridge. Epsons
IRC purge off old ink.
The counter for the waste pad has reached it’s limit so the printer stops working,
even though the pad may be fine.
It is possible to reset it though using the SSC utility.
Give it a try.
Slightly off topic but worthy of a mention I think - I’ve been using an Epson D88 printer with Inkrite copy ink Carts for about 18 Months now (or whatever time the D88 has been on the go) and it still prints extremely sharp prints. It gets a heavy demand on it being used mainly for printing Graphics (Decals), so I would very happily recommend this model. It cost about £65 at the time and has well paid for itself in the time it’s been used
