Epinal?

Anyone know if there are any weight restrictions to Bale via Epinal?

Do you mean Basel?

There is over the bussang 90euro if caught.
The bonhomme has a time limit think its 22-00 till 6-00 hours.
Also have the option of Epinal>Remiremont>Lexeuil>Lure>Belfort>Mulhouse>Basel(bit longer but minimal on peage cost.

I think Basel is a fiction of the UK map makers imagination isn’t it diesel? It’s like the none existent Italian cities of Turin, Florence and Naples to name just a few.
The way I see it. If people don’t know the real names of these cities, they 'ent likely to have been close enough to know about any weight limits either.

Cheers Doc. I think I’m going to have to reconsider, that route looks like it’s going to kill any advantage.

not really no as Switzerland is a multi-language country there are 2 acceptable ways of writing it the French way Bale or the German way Basel a bit like Liege which with Belgium having 3 acceptable languages has 3 names depending on where you are coming from, Liege for the French, Luik for the Dutch and Luttich for the Germans

where have you ever seen road signs pointing in the direction of Florence, I’ve only ever seen Firenze?
where have you seen road signs pointing towards Naples, I’ve only ever seen signs for Napoli?

You know when I asked the question, all I was doing was just trying to clarify, so maybe I could have been of help, I did used to do Swiss and also Belfort, Sochaux and Thaon les Vorges quite often, so it is an area I know fairly well, so you see George I have been close enough, many times. but I think enough people have answered your question by now, so I’ll bow out.

   Oh, me sides are aching, however the English speakers of the world are not the only people guilty of pronouncing or spelling place names differently from the natives, ergo: Basiela, Basilea, Bale and Basel are just a few derivatives, but as I’m sure you know German is our sister language, not French, hence in English our usual spelling is Basel (on a personal note I write Basel but pronounce it Bale).

On a different note, does anyone else remember sitting for a day or so at a time while the locals on the 66 would protest about the trucks?

On Autoroute it is spelt Basel and Basle… there aren’t many places with two spellings on Autoroute, but one I like is Livorno as Leghorn, it just reminds me of a cartoon character
