Looking at a TV setup for the UK in a cab but really have no idea what to get.
Do you go for a lap top with built in DVD? If so do you or can you by some sort of free view digi tuner, would this be a good one? roadking.co.uk/laptop-tv/usb … aptop.html
I’ve also seen this which has some sort of freeview as well, anyone have one? Are they any good? ebay.co.uk/itm/251648480242? … EBIDX%3AIT I know it’s a bit small but with the sat-nav it could kill two birds…
What set up do you have in your cabs or could recommend as I’ve no idea what would be a good quality buy and trusted setup.
It would help if you mention if you can hop from truck to truck or cab share, & if the gear is to be stored in the cab 24/7 as there will be a difference between what you can fix in the cab & what would have to be portable & lightweight
Personally id go for a laptop and freeview tuner that you can plug into it.
That way you have a TV, DVD, games machine and something to do any office work on without having to carry round lots of different things and power leads.
I carry my laptop and if I want TV, I watch it via the internet. My phone has unlimited mobile broadband and I connect my laptop to this via Wi-Fi. I also carry some DVDs with me.
I have an 18" TV with built-in DVD and free view bolted to an adderjustable bracket above the passenger side sun visor. It’s 12v/24v/mains and selects whatever when you plug it in. DVD’ sit behind it in a locker, booster above the window. Wired-in permanently from the fuse box to a 240v double socket behind the telly, Omnimax ariel on a mag mount, coax wired-in through the cleavage mirror heater cable grommet.
Simple to set up, takes minutes to tune in, and you don’t have to watch a picture the size of a matchbox. Bought it all from the CDC tat-wagon at Orwell some while back, money well spent.
I-pad c/w 24v charger for th’interweb and mobile phone for making phone calls. (How very '70’s )
