Engine on for air con

Been lucky this week, no nights out, So how many have left the engine running with air-con chuffing away all night, and I bet nobody’s said “you leaving that running all night,” as us poor fridge drivers hear every day.

My daf engine cuts out after 5 mins of no use so can’t evening I wanted to.
I’m probably in minority bit i love this hot weather.
But then again we have no uniform policy wear what you want. So got shorts n t shirts on.
And not overly worked just lot of long distance driving

Been quite pleasant. Struggling to get above 40 some days, but OK none the less.

Warm in central France yesterday
Nearly took my jumper off

been a while since i was in a DAF, but on the steering wheel, the button on the right i think which controls cruise control speed, tap that up once when on idle and it
increases revs slightly, then engine shouldn’t cut out after 5 mins.

If i needed to i did as my then bossman decided a microwave was more important than an air con pod[emoji2369][emoji2369]

i was parked next to a Rogers truck in italy a few years ago and whilst chatting he said “I’ll run truck for a bit but i can’t sleep with it running all night” fair enough i thought as I’m gonna run mine for a bit…anyway i woke up several hours later and his volvo was still purring away with curtains closed…[emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

I ran the engine for about an hour at around midnight the other day as I was in danger of drowning in sweat. The telematics picked it up and it was commented on when I went into the office the next day. I pointed to the 6 hastily imported tower fans in the office and remarked “do them ■■■■ ing things run for free then?” Nothing more was said. :imp:

Not all night but I’ve put it on when I wanted to when parked up.

In Annandale Water yesterday afternoon I was chopsing with a Stobarts driver which all starred because he had a huge desk fan on his dashboard with me asking how much hassle it is having one. Say a he needs it though, can’t have air con on when parked as Microlise will pick it up. I said similar to what The Maoster said in the sense that his bosses will have air con on… but he stuck with his fan anyway.

Half heard a trade union official this morning pointing out that there are recommendations for min temps for workers in the UK, (16C or 13C if doing heavt work) but no max.

It’s middle one for speed limiter.
Press it up once and engine does rev up.

Although I’d not leave it on all night.

Be to noisy for me.
What I’ve been doing is have aircon on full for 10 mins before go bed. Works for me. And leave both windows open about 6 inches

Looks like the staff at Tesco kilsby have been allowed civies.
Must say,the girl with the blonde bob,on the goods in desk…scrubs up well

■■■■ the microlise :unamused: , if it’s hot it goes on, end of.
I’ve no intention of sweating my plums off all night because of all that crap, and if picked up on it I’d tell them the same.
Is that what the job has been reduced to, penny pinching to that degree…ffs :unamused:

I had it on for about 20 mins when I got back to cab other night, but would not have if another driver was parked beside me, …being the old style considerate soul that I am.

+1…

I pointed put in a different thread that I have no idea how many tanks of fuel I got through in the 15+ years I did in Spain Portugal and Italy. If I’m roasting like a hot cross bun it’s engine on, set A/C to recirc-full and let 'er rip.

This hot weather there’s a campaign don’t leave hot dogs in a car for more than 10 mins.
If see one report it.

Yet were allowed to sleep in a cab overnight no one says a thing. Or worries about our wellbeing
Animals seem to get priority have more rights than us.

Most truck drivers have opposable thumbs, and so can open the cab door, and get out if they find its too hot. Dogs rarely have this ability. However much they want to get out, they cant.
Drivers have the means to get out, unfortunately, not all of them have the wit to do so. Hhhmmm you`ve got a fair point there.
